I have been taking Lexapro 20mg for about two months, and it caused some serious mental problems. Help?
I am 19 years old and weigh 140 pounds, can this Antidepressant Lexapro (Escitalopram) cause slowed thinking, mental fogginess, emotional-numbing, loss of interest in any activity, irritability, and other serious cognition problems? I am currently weening off the medicine, but I am almost certain Lexapro was the cause. Any ideas?
Answers :
I took lexapro. I never had this problem. You sure it isn't all in your head? Who am I kidding. I feel this way without drugs. It might not be the drug. Go to the doctor.
Did you ask Dr? The dose or type of med may not agree with you. Sometimes they have to try one and see if it works. Always report to them any reactions you feel you have. Try the Dr first they may try another alternative.
Good luck
Yes; view http://theroadback.org/lexapro_side_effects.aspx & www.drugs.com
Use the effective natural core treatments for depression at * http://your-mental-health.8m.com/blank_27.html and page B. If using a RECOMMENDED* brand of St. John's Wort, take with meals to avoid possible stomach upsets; check out the websites on St. John's Wort via page B, and if using UP TO 50mg of 5-htp daily in addition (or UP TO 200mg of 5-htp if NOT using the wort) take with a very low protein meal, to maximise the amount crossing the blood/brain barrier, with no, or extremely little protein 2 hrs before, to 2 hrs afterwards. Alternatively, take SAMe with the core treatments, but don't use anything else. You may be able to use SAMe while weaning off Lexapro, but I wouldn't use the other 2 until nearly weaned off; Google: "SAMe; Lexapro". View page 3 at 8m.com about weaning off.
