please halve the dose like dr said, and maybe get off it altogether and find something else. anxiety is bad enough as it is without having something that makes it worse. good luck
i got severely agitated on a pax drug, and got off them straightaway - i found deep breathing helped some; there are other solutions, we just have to find them, and it takes a long time
Well i have the same symptoms as you (panic attacks/ general anxiety and mild depression) and they prescribed me with Inderal La. Now i am a worrier and think everything is bad for you and after reading of the potential side affects the first two days of taking them were a worry/struggle i believed i was getting chest pains etc, but i kept taking them and 9 days later i am already slightly more calm although nowhere near beating my issues.
My advise would be if you are really that worried half the dose for a few days and after maybe 3-4 days do the recommended dosage and if after 7-8 days you are still having problems go back to the doctors and tell them your problem.
Good Luck whatever you do and hope you feel better soon.
yes, lexapro did make my depression and anxiety worse for the first couple weeks. i tried to get plenty of sleep and eat right. lexapro also really hurt my stomach. hang in there, it gets better. i switched to paxil, and the same thing happened. it takes me about a month to get used to the medication, but it helps.
If you just started taking the Lexapro, that could be what is called a "break-in side effect". People sometimes get them when they first begin taking antidepressants. The symptoms vary from person to person - I had very vivid and bizarre dreams that lasted a short while, and went away. Typically, the symptoms last a couple weeks or so, then start to go away.
Cutting the dose in half is a good idea. There is a "score" on the pill for doing just that - and if you want to, you can get a "pill cutter" at a pharmacy, that makes cutting the pills in half a LOT easier.
Try the half pills for a couple to three weeks, then go back to the full pill. What that does is lets your system get acclimated (used) to the Lexapro more gradually - and should reduce or eliminate the break-in side effects.
