MEPS ( military entry processing station)does a blood and urine test. the blood is taken while you are sitting in a chair and is fairly quick and painless they just take a couple of vials and send you on your way. the urine test you actually have to urinate in front of a nurse of the same sex as you are to insure that the urine is not tampered with or switched out during drug screening
MEPS is an all day process you are tested thourghely on hearing, site, mobility, and overall health, along with mental well being as well as background checks and the signing and swearing in of your contract. it can be an over all agravating day of getting examend and sent down every hall and floor of a huge buliding holiding your medical files to pass off to the next doctor and once you enter the building you are not allowed to leave at all there are guards watching the doors insuring that you do not leave till it is all over and done with. its a tough process but well worth it in the end.
to be honest im sure the military already has records of mental illness since you are a dependent and chances are they may turn you down because you have history of mental illness. if you lie to them them and they find out you face charges of false enlistment and can loose your spouse benifits and no longer be recoginzed as a full citizen you will no longer be able to vote or collect your social security when you retire. and the goverment im sure already has record of it because you are a spouse of a solider. so chances are you may be turned down because of your mental status.
but dont give up im not a doctor im just fore warning you of the concequences its still worth a shot just be honest because you cant lie in thoes test they will either dig it up or discover it and yes thoes blood and urine analysis detect everything that you put into your body.
MY THOUGHTS ARE IF YOU WANT TO JOIN A FEDERAL SERVICE AND YOUR WORRIED ABOUT DRUG TESTING ...THEN YOU NOT WHAT THEY LOOKING FOR ...SORRY ....NO DURG USERS ALLOWED ...AND I DONT THINK I WOULD LIKE A DEPRESSED PERSON IN MY ARMY
Actually both, you will be required to take a urine test and a blood test.
For your physical they give a blood and urine test. Both tests till detect ANYTHING including drugs that should not naturally be there. Seems like you are trying to get one over on the military. I am a MEPS classifier and just wanted to let you know you will be caught. If you are taking drugs like Wellbutrin and Lexapro, you need to find another kind of job. You need to be able to deal with the day to day life of the military minus mood altering drugs. The military is very stressful and the is why they do not allow people to join that are depressed and taking drugs for depression. They have the experience in the field already to know you do not work out. If you tell the ENTIRE truth the the recruiter you will save the tax payers lots of money in not having to discharge you later for fraud.
