• What is the most amount of time a person can be on disability for Anxiety/Panic attacks? Taking Lexapro.?

Does anyone know what the most amount of time a person can stay on disability while being treated for anxiety and panic attacks is? I was out on disability for a gallbladder surgery I had. I developed anxiety and panic as a result. My doctor has started me on Lexapro for 6 months. I was suppose to return to work next week, but he extended it for 2 weeks. If I am not ready to return to work how long can I keep asking for an extension?
Please tell me how long you were are out and receiving disability before you returned to work.

6/13 Saw my Dr. today. Seems he subscribes to the theory that my new release day is 2 weeks in the future, then I have to return to him for him to determine if I can have an extention for another 2 weeks! The system is driving me crazy, why can't he just give me 3 months at time?!

• Anyone taking Lexapro for Anxiety/Panic Attacks?

I took Lexapro for about 2 and a half weeks, with my panic attacks becoming less severe every day. Last Monday, my doc, for some reason told me to go off of it. Well, 3 days later, the attacks were back bad. I went back on the Lexapro Thursday and have taken it since. It seems to be helping a little. How long did it take you, for it to take away the thoughts about having a panic attack and actually having the scary feelings? I'm hoping this will eventually completely work for me.

I was put on Lexapro 10 mg. a week and a half ago for anxiety and panic symptoms. I can't really tell that its helping any just yet. How long does it usually take and are there any nasty side effects?

I have not noticed a change in my panic or anxiety, it almost seems worse, is it possible that I am taking too small a dosage? Anyone have any general advice about lexapro? thanks!

I have tried zoloft and paxil with extreme negative side effects including worsened anxiety, I've also been trying alternative therapies such as acupuncture and chinese herbs. They helped for a while but the attacks are back with a vengeance. Daily functioning has become hard. I'm curious about Lexapro and if anyone with the same probs may have benefited from it. Also, how long did it take to notice a difference? Please help :) Thanks

Ironic part is that I am having anxiety about taking the meds. I can't seem to talk myself into taking the pill. I am the type of person who pretty much never takes pills etc. and am pretty nervous about the side effects etc., and the loss of control.. once I take it I'm stuck with it til it wears off. This might seem silly, but I have been sitting here for almost a week, with the meds in my possession, dealing with my anxiety and not taking it. I guess I don't really believe that it will help me either.
I just mean that once I take it, I am stuck with potential side effects... I can't undo taking it etc. Maybe the term loss of control was a bit dramatic... lol

• Is it normal for lexapro to initially worsen anxiety?

I have been prescribed 10mg of lexapro for panic attacks/general anxiety and mild depression. I've only started just today - one 10mg dose in the morning. Even though its only my first day on the drug I have this very weird feeling which I can't describe and it is making me anxious.
The psychiatrist said if I feel more anxious I should half the dose.
I just want to know if other people have experienced this, if it is common and will it go away soon?
