• When I look at CBOE options charts at the following site, what does it mean if the option is shaded?
|
Is this an indication of being out of the money? Would in the money be just a white background? Why would some stocks not have any options listed?

• Difference of options on CBOE and others?
|
I think we have the same options on CBOE and other exchanges like CME or CBOT. Let's take S&P 500 option as an example.
We have S&P 500 option on CBOE with a symbol SPX and the same option on CME with ES symbol, right?
Is there any difference between those 2 options? No matter there is or not, which one would you prefer if you are going to trade S&P 500 option?
Yes. It IS an option. CME e-mini S&P 500 has both futures and options.

Please tell me how come it's not an option although it says "options" in CME site.

• CBOE Weekly Options?? How do they work?
|
I know how to trade regular Call/Put options. What are Weekly options? How are they different from reg. options? They have to be up/down volatile if they have week expirations. Explain the expiration? Thanks

• Why does CBOE.com (options) use LIBOR (London) interest rate for their Black Scholes calculation (vs US Treas)?

Why does CBOE.com (options) use LIBOR (London) interest rate for their Black Scholes options calculator vs., say, US Treasury interest rates???

• Does anyone know where I can find exchange fees for trading options contracts (Amex, CBOE, etc)?
|
I'm interested in finding exchange fees for the AMEX, CBOE, Pcoast, Phlx, International Stock Exchange, and Boston Options Exchange (6 total)
If you could direct me to links that will display different types of exchange fees or OCC fees, etc. that would be great.
Thanks a lot

• What do arb (options) traders in the spx (CBOE) do/what opportunties do they look for?

• How do I get started trading equity options and futures?
|
I have a quant background in hedging, so I'm not asking for guidance on how to learn modeling or developing strategies for trading options. I have work experience doing option valuation and developing dynamic replication strategies, but I have never done the trading.
I want to start relatively small - I'm comfortable putting about $20K at risk. I would be looking to hedge options against options while trying to limit the amount of dynamic hedging. I expect that I'll need set up some margin in addition to any net option premium. Is $20K reasonable?
Are there brokers specializing in options? Does anyone recommend CME, CBOE or other tools? (I know that some exchanges offer tools for subscription.)
Thanks!

• When S&P 500 options are available on CBOE why should I trade in option on S&P 500 futures on CME?
|
Futures Option v/s normal option...which is a better bet

• What do I need to know about trading on the floor of the CBOE?
|
I might have the opportunity to intern with a market making firm trading equity options on the floor of the CBOE. What do I need to know coming in?
Other general questions I am kind of curious about. How much money would a trader for a firm (small firm, only a dozen or so employees) like this make? What would their ultimate career goal be, buy their own seat and trade for themself?

• Is CBOE still offering Weeklys/where do you find? (short term options).?
|
I have been paper trading for a several months now and have found that I really like to trade options. In the past I have used the investools program (powered by think or swim), but now think that I would like to try make (and hopefully not lose) some real money.
I recently signed up for an account with Scottrade and it says something about 'weeklys' for option trading. However, I have never seen anything listed about where to find them. I know that it was a trial run back in 2005, but have not seen anything where it was cancelled. I am assuming that it has been, but I was curious if anyone knew anything about it or has tried using this method (whether or not it was cancelled). The idea of it is very intriguing for many reasons to me.
Thanks for any help/information! Have a nice week.
