I was recently prescribed Celexa by my Doctor. She asked me if I drank alcohol, and I told her occasionally on weekends; maybe 4 times a month with dinners. I filled the prescription, and the sticker says "do not drink alcoholic beverages while taking this medication". What would happen if I do drink while on the medication? Would my Dr. have given me something that would hurt me, eventhough I told her I drink occasionally?

I'm currently prescribed to Celexa. I have only been on this medication for approximately 2 weeks now.
I rarely drink.
Here's the thing, my boyfriend and I are planning a trip to an All Inclusive Resort in the Dominican Republic.. And I'm almost positive I can't drink while taking Celexa..
I know that some of you are going to say that I can go and not drink.. but let's be realistic.. it's FREE ALCOHOL ALL DAY.
So I guess my questions would be..
1) Is it possible for a doctor to lower the doseage in time for my trip?
2) Is there ANY way that drinking with Celexa is OK?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Also.. I am not a severe case.. I am only mild to moderate.

Just started taking Celexa a few days ago due to mild anxiety and depression. So far I seem to be having no problems with it, besides the fact I get really tired a couple hours after taking it. I am young and I definitely enjoy partying and drinking, sorry doctor, but there is no way I'll be cutting this out completely right now. I only drink a couple days out of the week anyway. I don't want to hear, "No, you can't do that" or "No, don't do this" ....I just want to hear others experiences who take Celexa and drink.
Also.... I don't do this very often at ALL, but just wondering how the combo of Celexa, alcohol and shrooms would be? If you don't like this idea, please don't post any negative opinions, I just want to hear the facts and experiences... thanks.

• How does alcohol affect celexa?

I just started taking celexa today and have some questions about it.
First off I am a Freshman in college so drinking is very common.
If i get drunk will it affect the processes/function of the medication? Or will it just affect how my body responds to alcohol?
Also what about marijuana?
I understand the smartest thing to do is stay away from these drugs but being in college and wanting to be social it is almost impossible to do that. Thankyou.

I know that you shouldn't really drink while taking this medication. However, i was wondering if you can drink a small amount now and then? I am not looking for people to tell me alcohol is bad. I am just looking for personal accounts of people on this medication that do drink and how it effects them. Or what their doctors have told them about drinking alcohol on this medication. Thanks! :)
