I am interested in getting into commodities trading and I'm currently at the beginning stage of researching it (don't want to just jump in and loose my investment). So I was curious what platform/website some experienced commodities traders are using and why it was their choice. I would like to get into Crude Oil trading (or commodities trading) but I am not sure where to begin. I don't want to end up in a situation where I have 1000 barrels of crude oil delivered to my house or something. I simply want to buy and sell commodities without ever having to take delivery of anything. Is this possible?

What is to watch for in trading commodities? How is it different from stock trading? Can you set limit sell and limit buy positions like you do in stocks?

If a speculator possibly had to take delivery of corn, soybeans, or crude oil would that slow down the rampant speculators and thus curb inflation on our prices of food and gas?
As it is now, most commodities settle to an index, I believe mostly due to the oversight the delivery process would take.

• How to file taxes when trading commodities?

For three months in '09, I traded commodities and had a year-end loss of $900. I know I use form 6781 and schedule D, but I'm not sure how to fill them out. My 1099-b only shows the P/L for each individual month and for the entire year. I heard that commodities traders don't have to list each trade, is this true? And if so, then how do I list the activity?
How do I transfer this information to state? I live in AZ.
