• Long-term side effects from Lexapro?
|
I have been diagnosed with a mood disorder less than a year ago. I am currently taking 10mg of Lexapro and 25mg of Seroquil for my depression, mood swings, uncontrolled suicidal thoughts, insomnia, etc. I have been taking the two medications since October of last year, and at first I felt great. I was happy, confident, and at an all-time high. Lately, however, I feel different. I am dizzy, tired, uninterested, hungry all of the time, abrasive, and somewhat hopeless, not to mention my period is completely irregular. I definitely don't think it's the Seroquil alone. Is it the combination of the meds? Is it the Lexapro? Am I having long-term side-effects? I am only 15. What's going on?

• Can SSRIs cause long term side effects long after its no longer in your system?

Basically I just need a second opinion on my condition seeing that I'm running out of options. I'll just outline it for easy reading
1. I've been diagnosed with OCD and was prescribed Prozac (1 tablet/day) + Xanax (half to 1 tablet/day)
2. I experienced increased anxiety on the 3rd week and my Dr increased my Xanax to 3 tablets/day
3. Conditions didn't improve up until the 6th week when my Dr realized its the Prozac that causes my increased anxiety so he switched it to Lexapro (1 tablet/day) + Xanax (same dosage)
4. I developed another increased anxiety on the 9th day and again my meds was switched to Anafranil (1 - 2 tablets/day) + Xanax (same dosage)
5. Another increased anxiety on the 9th day and I switch to Zoloft (1 tablet/day) + Klonopin (4 tablets/day)
6. Zoloft seems to work for the first month but the anxiety still lingers and made bearable only by the Klonopin. My Dr increased the Zoloft to 1.5 tablet/day + Klonopin (same dosage) on the second month
7. The increased dosage causes more side effects such as body aches and it I only lasted 3 weeks on it before reverting back to 1 tablet/day
8. Anxiety is still there on the 3rd month so after 3 weeks after reverting back to a lower dosage, I stopped taking the meds altogether
9. I decided to stop taking anti-depressants for 1 month while maintaining the Klonopin on 2 tablets/day
10. Even after a month of stopping anti-depressant, I still feel anxious and had to take the Klonopin to keep me calm. Symptoms includes difficulty swallowing, hot flashes, jittery, difficulty sleeping and flu like symptom
10. Seeing my symptoms are not getting any better, I decided to give another anti-depressant a shot and this time its Seroxat CR (1 tablet/day) + Xanax (3 tablets/day)
11. Again I developed increased anxiety on the 8th day and again I had to stop
12. Its almost a month since I stop taking the meds but my symptoms persisted and again had to be maintained with Xanax
13. My condition has become worse since taking these meds and develop symptoms that wasn't even there in the first place
14. I just want to go back to my condition before taking any of these meds (any of the symptoms mentioned was never present even with the OCD) but I'm not sure if SSRI can cause long term effect even after its long gone from the system. My Dr decided that I might be too sensitive to SSRI so he prescribed a TCA (Dothiepin) which treats mainly anxiety and depression so at the very least to reduce the anxiety but I read TCA has even worse side effects and I'm still not taking it until now but had to take Xanax (1 - 2 tablets/day) to offset the symptoms. The anti-anxiety meds will wear out with daily use so I'm out of ideas on how to manage my anxiety (which is not the problem in the first place) and I don't think I want to experience another severe side effects from the anti-depressant. Any ideas? Thanks

• Will going back on meds I quit cold turkey get rid of long term side effects?
|
I quit 20mg lexapro and 100 mg seroquel about 2 years ago. I quit cold turkey after taking them for 2 or 3 years. Since then I have cotton mouth, extremely wet mouth, have no appetite, cloudy thoughts, when I turn my head there is a delay in my vision, I have no weight on me at all, I can't concentrate and when I go to sleep at night my nose clogs up and I feel really hot. I always feel a little bit like I'm going to throw up and feel like I can't do summersalts because of that and I can't tell where the ground is anymore. All I do is lay in bed all the time and I can't concentrate on anything anymore. These 3 years passed by so quickly and I don't feel in the moment anymore and I feel so bad I want to go back on the meds I stopped in the first place. If there was damage from these meds, if I go back on them will it go away??? All my doctors said that I'm fine and that the effects would be gone but I never felt like this before taking them.

•Voting Question: Please Help! Lexapro sexual side effects!?
|
Unable to orgasm during intercourse, please help!!!?
I have been diagnosed with depression and take lexapro to counteract it. However, I am unable to orgasm during regular intercourse and sometimes cannot keep it up. However, I have no issues when I am masturbating and achieve erection and orgasm without any problem.
What the heck is going on? Is it my depression and anxiety problem or is it the medication? How do I manage without the meds because when I am off them I am depressed and anxious? The doctor gave me some Cialis for the ED problems but that dosent help with the orgasm. Is there any long term solution for this? Any anti depression medication without sexual side effects?

• What has your experience been with Lexapro?
|
Just wondering if there were people out there who have taken Lexapro to help with severe anxiety/depression. Also, have you heard of any possible, negative, long-term side effects that could come with taking Lexapro?

• Long term effects of xanax use?
|
My boyfriend was prescribed xanax by the dr a few times. The dr would give him 30 days worth of pills and my bf would go thru them within a week or two. This time the dr gave him 60 days worth of pills almost a month ago and there is about 16 pills left. I feel he has become addicted and that worries me. My boyfriend has panic attacks but I really think that it is more of a xanax addiction or maybe he is just scared to death of having a panic attack. I am worried about him over dosing or having bad side effects from the xanax. He also takes Lexapro and also drinks quite a bit of alcohol as well. Any info or suggestions please?

• Lexapro, Pregnancy and after effects on babies/children?
|
Have any of you out there taken Lexapro while pregnant, if so when did you start taking it during your pregnancy and has your child(ren) had any adverse side effects whether temporary or long term. I have tried to come off of it but cannot and the stress/anxiety/depression has caused my ovulation to be messed up so I am having trouble pin-pointing my ovulation to conceive, last month I didnt even ovulate at all. Ughh
