• I have been taking Lexapro 20mg for about two months, and it caused some serious mental problems. Help?

I am 19 years old and weigh 140 pounds, can this Antidepressant Lexapro (Escitalopram) cause slowed thinking, mental fogginess, emotional-numbing, loss of interest in any activity, irritability, and other serious cognition problems? I am currently weening off the medicine, but I am almost certain Lexapro was the cause. Any ideas?

• A question on medications?

I was diagnosed with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder about two years ago, and I tried many medications such as: Aropax, Luvox, Zoloft, Prozac, and Clomipramine. They have not worked. I have even augmented them with new and old anti-psychotics such as: Zyprexa, Seroquel, Risperidone, Solian, Haloperidol, Chlorpromazine, and Stelazine. Less than a month ago, my diagnosis changed to PO OCD (Purely Obsessional OCD). I saw my psychiatrist yesterday and he thinks I have Paranoid Schizophrenia. He has put me on Lexapro 20mg (Escitalopram) for the obsessional problems, Seroquel 1200mg (Quetiapine) for sedation, Risperidone 2mg for the Schizophrenia, and Lithium 450mg to help make everything work better. I am having one disaster situation after another. Things just keep getting worse. My mental health has declined so badly, I can't even leave the house. I would appreciate as many responses as possible. What medications/combinations do you think I would benefit from? What should I try next? Please

• Question on Lexapro (the drug)?

I am on the medication Lexapro (Escitalopram). I started off on 5mg per day, and now have reached 60mg per day. I know the Doctor's books say that the maximum dose is 20mg, and the most 30mg. The psychiatrist that started me on Lexapro won't see me anymore, for reasons I won't go into here. My current psychiatrist has me on 40mg. She doesn't know I'm on 60mg. This is hard because I'm running out of scripts, and no-one will take on my 60mg decision. My old psychiatrist said that in some cases, people may need to have up to 80mg per day. On Monday I'm increasing the dose to 70mg. Then after one week, 80mg.
Does anyone know of anybody or any cases that have required 80mg?Is it dangerous? Would it be silly to increase the dose to 90mg, and then 100mg? Will it be too much seretonin in the brain? What serious rammifications could this create? Could I have a fit or a stroke or something? I ask this because boosting up the dose to 70mg and onwards is on my own head. I'm also on Seroquel, Valium, and Lexotan. Please people, put your heart and soul into a response, because I'm getting very desperate. Could I put something with the Lexapro to make it more effective? I'll leave it at that. Thank You.
One more thing: What anti-psychotics (major tranquilizers) are ther most sedating? Old ones or new ones. I want something to make me very, very, relaxed. Something that will totally calm my body down. Cheers.

• What dosage of citalopram should I take, if I used to take 10mg of escitalopram?

I used to take 10mg/day of escitalopram (a generic of lexapro). I weaned myself off of it and have now been off of it for a couple of months. My life has been very stressful lately, so I decided that I am going to ask my doctor at my appointment on Tuesday to prescribe me citalopram (generic of celexa), since I can get it for just a few dollars. I see that 20mg is the lowest dosage that citalopram comes in. Is that equivalent to 10mg of escitalopram or is there a line on the pill to cut it in half? Thanks in advance!

• Two questions to ask?

First of all, I am on the following medications: Escitalopram (Lexapro) 60mg, Quetiapine (Seroquel) 1500mg, and Bromazepam (Lexotan) 12mg. I have Purely Obsessional OCD and the Lexapro is helping, but I want to increase the dose to70mg, and then to 80mg. The problem is my psychiatrist won't see me anymore, and there is no-one willing to take me on and up my dose. The highest dose of Lexapro is 20mg in the doctor's books, but there are some cases that require higher doses. I am getting results, but I believe that I can get even better by increasing the dose, but I can't find anyore that will support me with this. All answers will be appreciated.
My second question is for my father. He has problems with his bowels. After a bowel motion, he gets extremely itchy and feels an intense burning sensation. His stools are broken and he has residue when he wakes up in the morning. He doesn't have full movements. He as alot of wind, and burping occurs even before eating or drinking. He also has nausea and dry mouth. His medications are: Lexapro 10mg, Nexium 40mg, and Valium when he needs it. Can anybody shed some light on this issue?

• A question on medication?

I was originally diagnosd with OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder). But now, my diagnosis has changed to PO OCD (Purely Obsessional OCD. I am currently on Escitalopram (Lexapro), and the dose is 60mg, even though the books say you can only take it up to 20mg. I am also on Quetiapine (Seroquel) 900mg-1200mg a day. And Lithium 900mg,which I'm stopping tonight because I read it can cause hair loss. I'm also on Valium, which is NOT helping me at all. I've changed over to Bromazepam (Which is only slightly helping). Not to bore you anymore, these are my questions:
1. Will Lexapro help me with my Purely Obsessional OCD?
2. I bumped up the Lexapro this morning and I experienced symptoms of hypomania...I don't think thats normal. What is going on?
3. Today I've been very agitated. Valium is not helping, the bromazepam is slightly beneficial. Why are these sedatives not working properly?
4. I am taking HEAPS of Seroquel and its not sedating me at all. If I have too much, I get restless. Why?
5. My Psychiatrist wants me to increase my Lexapro to 80mg. What do you think about that?
I'm not sleeping as well as I used to, my appetite it down, and I always have anxiety. I've been on all the sedatives, major tranquilizers and anti-depressants. I've tried self-medicating with some pretty dangerous stuff...like the date rape drug Rohypnol and Oxycontin. I've also tried Mogadon, Clonazepam, Serepax, Ativan, Xanax: no success.
PLEASE: If there is anyone out there, please help. Can you anser all 5 questions? Are there any off-label treatments for my condition? Are there any drugs I can try? Thank you for yout time.
