Next week I’m leaving for Amsterdam and the plan is to bring five hundred in cash and use my debit card to pull out money as I need it. Now, I’ve never flown internationally before, so I’m completely ignorant as to what to do. Do I just go up to the foreign exchange services desk and ask for local currency in whatever denomination and collect it right there? Also, there’s two different providers, ABN AMRO and GWK, does it matter which one I use?

• HiFX Australia (Foreign Currency Exchange Services) - Has anybody used this company to remit money overseas?

I want to remit an amount of money (from Australia) to an overseas bank account (a family member's bank account) using the business services of HiFX Australia.
Has anybody had any experiences, feedback that they can share in regards to this company?
I can assure you that HiFX will save me on IMT bank fees which are charged by all Australian banks. They also offer a much superior exchange rate then that offered by ALL Australian banks and the overseas bank which I am sending the money.
Any comments, advice, other recommendations with facts or constructive criticism would be greatly appreciated!
After further research I still maintain HiFX will save me money as they don't charge fees for their service unlike Australian banks. However, it is highly doubtful that they will offer you a better exchange rate than Siam Commercial Bank Thailand (the bank where I'm sending my remittance) for an amounts under AUD10,000.00

i looked around online, and it seems that a lot of exchange sites and banks will have such services, if you are exchanging USDs to a foreign currency - but not vice versa, at least that is listed on their sites.
i want to say my bank does have an exchange service but with a 30% fee. anyone know a better deal??
