• Has anyone switched suddenly with no weaning from Lexapro to Effexor?
|
My doctor has told me switch from Lexapro 30mg which I have been taking for a year and a half and start 75mg of Effexor. He said to do it with no break between, just one night take the Lexapro and then the next night take the Effexor. Has anyone else done this?? I understand that just because some people may experience something, it doesnt mean that everyone does, I am just curious to know if it has been done successfully before. I am nervous about doing this becasue of the side effects with switching so suddenly but I can't wean off the Lexapro and the doctor said there really is no reason to if you are only going to go on somthething else anyway, you may as well stay medicated. Any experiences similar to this??

• Switching from Lexapro to Pristiq?
|
I have been on Lexapro for 4 years. In the beginning, it was great. However, I do not feel it is working anymore. My doctor switched me to Pristiq and said I could immediately start the new medicine without weaning from Lexapro?? I am scared to just stop Lexapro "cold turkey". Shouldn't I gradually decrease my dose and if so, how should I do so?. Any info will be helpful..thanks!

• Weight gain immediately AFTER weaning off Lexapro?
|
I weaned off Lexapro over the span of about four weeks (this was according to my doctor's directions). I stopped taking the Lexapro altogether two weeks ago. As soon as I stopped it completely, I started feeling "fat" and noticed I had gained about 10lbs. (with, of course, a little more belly :-( Is it possible that the weight gain resulted from stopping the Lexapro, or did I just put on weight over the holidays?

•Voting Question: Weaning off lexapro and need some input?
|
My doctor wants to wean me off lexapro and start me on something else. I've been on lexapro for 5 years now to treat my severe panic attacks. And for the last year now I just haven't felt great and she thinks its not working anymore. I know that it will be a very slow process to try avoiding withdrawl but I am still petrified. I've heard that lexapro is the hardest to wean from and the withdrawls are horrible. I would like to hear from someone who's been taken off lexapro and their experience. Honesty PLEASE!

• How do I switch from Lexapro to Effexor?
|
Weaning off the Lexapro (30mg for the last year) is the scariest concept to me. I suffer badly and I feel like I am in danger physically and mentally even when I try to wean to 25mg. The doc said i cant keep going increasing the dose and maybe I need to try something else. He gave me a scipt for Effexor. How do go from one to the other. . Can I just start taking the Effexor as well as the Lexapro and then once the Effexor has kicked, try to slowly wean off the Lexapro???

• Weaning from SSRI? Also bipolar...advice?
|
OK..so I probably know the answer to this but I really need to hear it from other people. Especially bipolar people.
When I started on Lexapro I become hypomanic and was diagnosed with bipolar. I am sure that the Lexapro ( like other ssri's) has worsened my bipolar symtoms. I initially took the ssris and lexapro for anxiety not for mood swings.
My psych discounts my need to stop the lexapro stating that I will end up worse but I feel like I need to stop the Lexapro (whilst keeping on with the Lithium) to see if some of my mood swings decrease.
I dont like taking the Lexapro - I cant sleep, I have nightsweats and feel it makes me worse. I have no problem taking the Lithium as I need it while on the Lexapro.
Any bipolars weaned off an SSRI and felt better. I have decreased my dose from 15mg to 10mg and already feel depressed but not terribly - will this steady out/is it rebound depression? Please don't answer if you do not have any experience with this?

• Is it safe to switch from lexapro to paxil?
|
The first anti depressant i ever took was paxil i took it for 6 months and weaned myself off b/c i thought i was better. I took it for panic attacks. Then i was put on paxil cr then they took that off the shelf so i started back on paxil and then with my 2nd child they told me the things that paxil could do to my baby, never told me this with my first but i thank the Lord their both OK. With my 2nd child they put me on Zoloft after I had him the Zoloft didn't seem to work all that good so they put me on lexapro. I am ALWAYS tired and I keep reading all the bad stuff about lexapro and all the other SSRI's so I want to wean myself off of them, and i want to switch back to paxil since I've weaned myself off of it before but I've never went from lexapro to paxil so i don't know if I'm going to have any withdraws from the lexapro while taking paxil and then weaning myself off of it.
Just a note to anyone else on SSRI's please read about them and you'll see how much worse they are for you than good.
I'm now taking fish oil. And have 5HTP to take when Im completely off the paxil/lexapro which i know you cannot take 5HTP while on an SSRI's but it does the same as SSRI's and it only takes a few min to work, and don't have all the harsh side effects like the SSRI's
I just want to be off SSRI's COMPLETELY

• How long are the withdrawals going to last from stopping lexapro?
|
I was on 10mg for about 6 months. To wean myself off, I took a pill every other day for two weeks. I've been off for a week now. I am extremely dizzy with upset stomach. How long is this going to last? I am miserable.
