• What will happen if the banking systems of major countries will collapsed?

During the last thirty five years have been the most tumultuous in international monetary history. The shock then led to the reversal in the cross-border flow of capital and the price of that country’s currency in the foreign exchange market declined sharply as well as the price of securities traded declined. Is there possibility that the world banking system will collapse?

• Is this normal for a foreign exchange student?

Okay so there is this girl at my school.She is part of a foreign exchange program and came from China to my town for 1 year. Well me i'm very nice to people and so of course i'd be nice to her.But anyway she was staring at me friday in my Deca Marketing class.We went outside for some reason and she was constantly starring at me.I'm like wtf what's wrong with her but then again maybe she was surprised I knew so much about her country.We talked about that while walking before the starring started (I love world history and cultures from around the world).So am I like the first black guy she met and that's the reason she stares.Or does she kind of have a thing for me.And also I know this won't help but she's from southern china (didn't tell which city). • Seniors, do you think it's time for programs like FDR's CDC?

I look at the countries where the "poor" are rioting in the streets as they have become poorer & poorer ...and the rich in their countries have become richer and richer. Pretty good indication that money doesn't trickle down....it just goes into gold bars sitting in vaults in Switzerland...or goes to playing day-trading market games....or to foreign currency exchange markets.... but doesn't create jobs. Is it time for Depression programs that worked to get us out of the last depression...and saved our countries from rioting in the streets....and things like guilliotines, communist takeovers of whole countries? FDR SAVED us from that by instituting, temporarily, enough socialism to keep the government from falling. The countries which did not do that.....governments fell....as they always have throughout history when the middle classes got wiped out. Anyone who can do simple arithmetic ought to be able to look at the jobs available in the general business community...even convenience stores....and realize that there ARE NOT enough jobs to go around. There are over 30 MILLION unemployed Americans. There are NOT but a small fraction of jobs available anywhere to hire them....much less them getting two of them. Too bad that FOX does not place any value on simple arithmetic. SORRY ....typing error in my name of the program.....Yes....CCC..... the programs through which the goverment employed and taught a whole generation of workers skills ..... and bankrupt states and cities all over the country benefitted from the work that the workers did. So did our infrastructure and our country. Kept many from being on the dole who could be put to work doing something useful which also helped states, cities at the same time. Drastic desperate times call for drastic desperate measure that do not make sense in normal economic times.

The crisis of capitalism is getting serious in all aspects. Working people throughout the world have turned out in the struggle to break the chains of capital. The working masses' struggle, staged against capitalism all at once across the world on Oct. 15 and 16, was the biggest organized one unprecedented in history of capitalism spanning more than 300 years. Taking part in the struggle were millions of people from all walks of life in more than 1 500 cities in 80 odd countries. This struggle was erupted at Wall Street in Manhattan of New York in the United States, the heart of the capitalist economy and a synonym for monopolistic capital. Under the slogan of "Occupy Wall Street!" the protestors set up tents outside a stock exchange in New York to go into an action of protest. This turned in a twinkle to a chain movement across the U.S. The Occupy Wall St movement was an eruption of the exploited classes' pent-up wrath at the exploiters. It was also an expression of the will to remove the stronghold of capitalism as a whole which brings only exploitation, oppression, unemployment and poverty to the popular masses. The protesters are now expanding their ranks after setting forth such slogans clearer in nature as "equality, democracy and revolution". Ruling quarters in the U.S. are crying in distress that the "class struggle has been launched." The U.S. chief executive formally recognized that this is a manifestation of feeling of frustration toward the U.S. society. The American protestors set October 15 as "day of international movement", calling on the working people the world over to respond to it. In response to this call anti-capitalist demos took place all at once in Britain, Italy, Germany, Spain, France, Belgium, Australia, Japan, Philippines, Taiwan, etc. on October 15 and 16. Their participants demanded final end to poverty and economic inequality, chanting such slogans as "Reject capitalism!" and "Give us jobs!" In south Korea more than 400 civic and public organizations and workers' organizations launched protest, chanting "Occupy Seoul!" These unprecedented actions of the working masses in capitalist countries are attributable to the extremely acute socio-class contradictions created after the outbreak of the global financial crisis in 2007. The capitalist market economy is now on the point of total bankruptcy, embroiled in a new financial panic by protracted economic crisis. There happened an unprecedented situation in which stock fell hard all at once at securities markets in various parts of the world. The situation was attributable to the unprecedented state debts in the U.S. and Europe caused by the serious financial economic crisis. According to data, European banks, which bought national bonds issued by Eurozone countries suffering from the debt crisis, may sustain losses of 300 billion Euros in maximum. As regards the gloomy monetary situation in Western countries the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development said that the capitalist economy would not escape from the stagnation not only in 2011 but in 2012. The facts show that the capitalist market economy is steadily falling down into the maw of total bankruptcy due to its anarchy and spontaneity. There is no other way out of the present crisis of capitalism but to remove its system to the full. Capitalism is vanishing from the stage of history since it has served to exploit the people and forsaken them. The Western countries can never get rid of the vicious cycle of crisis with any means as long as the capitalist market economy is left intact. Foreign news reports say that the impact by financial and debt crisis is bringing to Europe's party politics and ideological trend of its society the most serious change since the end of the Cold War. In Latin America many countries more strongly call for rejecting the capitalist market economy and taking to the road of socialism and leftist governments' influence is growing stronger with each passing day. With the passage of time the capitalist corruptness and falsity are brought to bolder relief and illusion about capitalism vanishes like a bubble by the rapid current. The idea reflecting the desire of humankind to live and develop in an independent way has become more vital. The truth of socialism is clearly evidenced in a new historic environment in the 21st century. The future of mankind is ensured by socialism based on science. • What would happen if China in the FUTURE invaded America due to foreign dept?

I'm writing a hypothetical world scenario for history class (my teacher is crazy for stories like this: extra credit) Here's whats suppose to be going on at this time ok, we all know by now that hands down China is going to be the next world super power, and their resources and technology are growing fast. So lets say around 2025..... Chinese living standards are high and identical to that of American standards after 10 years of the housing market recession the American economy is finally recovering but is badly damaged and heavy in dept the Chinese government has been keeping their exchange rate cheap for too long and due to foreign pressure have to now increase it Yuan value goes up, export demand goes down China, and America are still the 2 world military super powers Due to Chinese job reduction from less demand for goods from other countries, China now faces increase in poverty, higher birthrates, and a civil revolution at hand. Money low from trying to manage the situation, and civil unrest, they began to sell their foreign investments,and demand their money back from the countries they loaned it to. U.S. still recovering from their recession can't pay back, Desperate China decides to take matter into their own hands (they have wasted all other options on economic revival). They launch a full scale attack on American homeland. Remember now China has just as much military technology as America do. (Almost like U.S. Army vs identical U.S. Army) What would happen next? How would they attack? How would we retaliate? What would happen if they succeed? What will happen to our economy? How would other countries (Europe) react? most importantly, what would they do with us, and American society?

As part of the investigation, “the Fed, the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the major investment banks, mortgage banks and hedge funds will be asked to hand over confidential documents to the IMF team.”[55] Simon Johnson, former Chief Economist at the IMF, wrote an article in May of 2009 explaining that the problem with most third world nations (“emerging market economies”) is that the governments are so closely tight-knit with the corporate and banking elite that they form a financial oligarchy, and that this is essentially the same problem in the United States. He wrote that, “the finance industry has effectively captured our government,” and “recovery will fail unless we break the financial oligarchy that is blocking essential reform.”[56] In March of 2009, an article appeared in the Washington Post written by Desmond Lachman, a fellow at the American Enterprise Institute, a previous emerging market strategist at Salomon Smith Barney and deputy director of the IMF’s Policy and Review Department, in which he referred to America as the “world’s scariest emerging market.” In other words, America resembles a third world debtor nation, from its corrupt banking elite, to the inept political class, and a massive foreign debt, America “is coming to resemble Argentina, Russia and other so-called emerging markets, both in what led us to the crisis, and in how we're trying to fix it.”[57] Towns, cities, and states across America are resorting to drastic actions to reduce their debts, such as closing fire stations, scaling back trash collection, turning off street lights, ending bus services and public transportation, cutting back on library hours or closing them altogether, school districts cutting down the school day, week or year, and it was reported in September of 2010 that “local governments will eliminate roughly half a million employees in the next fiscal year, with public safety, public works, public health, social services, and parks and recreation hardest hit by the cutbacks.” Simultaneously, this is occurring with a dramatic increase in the rate of privatizations or “public-private partnerships” in which even libraries are being privatized.[58] In September of 2010, the IMF chief Dominique Strauss-Kahn said that America and Europe, in the midst of the worst jobs crisis since the Great Depression, face an “explosion of social unrest.” Speaking at the summit of the International Labour Federation, Strauss-Kahn stated, “the labour market is in dire straits. The Great Recession has left behind a waste land of unemployment,” and that, “the Great Recession has left gaping wounds. • An insanely long question on inflation. How can we stop inflation?

What causes inflation? Inflation seems to be a subject few people understand. The cause of inflation is likely purposely clouded by the people you send to Washington. To understand inflation, we must first review some history. The USA started printing script, paper money, around the time of the Civil War. The script became promissory notes for an exchange of gold to foreign countries. All U.S. citizens were required to surrender their gold for dollars. All the gold in the USA became the property of the government. An exchange rate of $35 per ounce of gold was established. In international trading, the U.S. dollar became as good as gold. Even though the U.S. dollar was backed by gold, the British pound sterling was the major currency used in the international commodities market up to World War II. As a result of England's destruction during the war and the decline in value of its currency, the U.S. dollars took hegemony in international trade. Everything went along smoothly for a few decades in the world. Trading between nations was conducted in U.S. dollars. After all, the dollar was as good as gold. Then came the 1960s. For the first time in its history, the USA could not switch back to a butter economy after World War II. After every prior conflict the country was involved in, its military industrial machine was dismantled. The cold war prevented that. The country had to adopt a guns and butter economy, a combination never tried before by a non-imperialistic country. A strain on the U.S. treasury started when the country engage in another war, began an expense space program, and started a costly entitlement program for the poor all at the same time. The cost of maintaining a military to block Soviet expansionism, fight a war in Vietnam, send men to the moon, and pay welfare checks caused the USA to spend much more money than it collected in taxes. The solution was simply to print more money. By the end of the decade, the USA had printed far more money than the gold supply could cover. Foreign countries were well aware of the fact that the U.S. had print money that wasn't covered by gold. In 1971, France demanded gold in exchange for the U.S. dollars it held in its reserves. This move by France started a run on Fort Knox. President Nixon countered this run by taking the dollar off the gold standard. Without gold, something had to support the value of the dollar. Thus, the International Currency Exchange was established, where banks began trading currency just like investors traded stock on the stock market. It was the demand for the currency on this market that set the value of the dollar. Although this solved the problem of the country's gold reserve being depleted, it didn't correct the fact that the USA had printed far more money than its economy and the world's economy needed. Inflation, or devaluation of the dollar, followed this move by Nixon. It took well into the 1980s until the U.S. economy earned the excess money spent by the government during the 1960s. So. How does the International Currency Market determine the value of the dollar? When Nixon dropped the gold standard, the USA was the largest producer of goods on the world market. When a foreign country needed to buy U.S. goods it needed U.S. dollars to do so. The need for dollars created a demand for the script. As the USA produced more, more script was needed by foreign countries to buy products. This need of dollars supported the dollar's value. Nixon realize, however, that it would take several decades for the U.S. economy to earn back the huge government deficits of the 60s. To help shorten that period of time, a deal was struck with OPEC. OPEC agreed to demand U.S. dollars on the international market as payment for its oil. In return, the USA agreed to provide military protection to OPEC nations against any Soviet threat. This trade in oil for dollars became known as petrodollars. From the mid 1980s through the 1990s, the world went along smoothly once again. The U.S. money supply balanced out with the world's trade, and everything was hunkydory. But then came an event that upset the balance of nature: the start of the European Union. The establishment of the European Union, and the issuance of its currency, could not have come at a worse time for the USA. The industrialization of Asian nations, like China, had created a cheap source of consumer goods for the American public. So much so, that it created a trade deficit between the USA and those countries. As a result, the USA had to buy more foreign currency with its dollars to pay for those imports. This lessened the demand for dollars on the exchange. Meanwhile, the new European Union became a big exporter of goods to the world, which increased the demand for Euors on the exchange and further lessened the demand for dollars. With less countries buying dollars, the value of the dollar declined on the currency exchange, and Americans had to pay more dollars for the goods it import, which meant inflation. This isn't the end of the story, however. Our government is still in the habit of spending money it doesn't yet have. Government spending is based on projected tax revenue. And, tax revenue is based on personal income. The old formula for calculating projected tax revenue doesn't fit the inflation cycle the country is facing today. In the inflationary times of the 1970s the USA was able to produce more products to sell in the international market place. This increased production created more jobs and more personal income. This is not the case today. Although America's big business is selling more on the international market, the labor for that production is coming from outside the USA. Because of foreign labor, personal income is not increasing as it did in the 1970s. This is creating shortfalls in tax revenue, which again has the government spending more money than it is taking in, and has it printing money with no value to cover its expenses, as it did in the 1960s. This adds to inflation pressure. Many foreign countries are viewing this as the same problem that prompted France to demand gold for its dollar reserves, which puts value of the $27 trillion US dollars in the currency exchange at even further risk. Unless the trade deficit is brought under control we are going to continue in this cycle of inflation, which will lead to further deficits in government spending and more inflation yet again.
