• Has anyone noticed a big difference in increasing Lexapro dosage from 10mg to 20mg to control anxiety?
|
I am on 10mg and it helps but is not as effective as past meds I have been on. I know it's a very low dose and wonder if it's the medication or the dosage.

• increasing lexapro dosage?
|
i have been on lexapro for a little over a week. i have taken 5 mg a day, with the exception of one day (day 5) when i took 10 mg. the 5 mg seems to be helping a little. i don't feel depressed anymore but i still have a lot of the anxiety. i am able to do some things now but not everything i would like to because of the anxiety. on 5 mg i have no side effects but when i took the 10 mg i was so dizzy and nauseous all day i couldn't do anything. my doctor suggested taking 10 mg again. should i try it? i dont want the side effects again and dont know whether i need the 10 mg or if all the anxiety will go away with the 5 mg given time. anyone have any ideas/experience with this?

• Increasing Lexapro Dosage?
|
I know- I have posted this just 17 hours ago, but I have had NO response! (I figure thats because I posted it in the middle of the night...) Please Help, if you can!
I have been on 20mg of lexapro for the past....6 months or more at least!
I started off on 5mg, and that did NOTHING, I took 10mg, and still no effect, and then I started on 20mg...the first couple of weeks I felt out of this world, and out of my head with absolutely no feelings inside of me (if that makes any sense)
So, I have been on this 20mg now, for as I said 6 months or more and my anxiety has started coming back in heavy waves. I even had a serious panic attack 2 weeks ago.
My Question: Have you taken more than 20mg of lexapro? If so, how much? Please let me know also if you are male or female, and your age.
Any other tips regarding Lexapro would be GREATLY appreciated!
Thank you in advance!

• Can an increase in dosage of Lexapro cause fatigue and weight gain?
|
I was on 10mg. However, my depression symptoms had not improved. I was easily agitated and irritable. My dr. increased my dosage to 20 mg. Now, I just want to eat, crawl under a rock and sleep for 20 years. I've gained 5 lbs in a week-and-a-half. What is wrong with me?!?!?!?!

• I believe increasing my dose of Lexapro would have helped me a lot for IBS but doctor refused. Whom to complan?
|
I have severe IBS and my gastro-enterologist put me on lexapro 20 mg which is SSRI anti-depressant. This is my main medication for IBS control and it is effective and does help me a lot, however sometimes IBS episodes of chronic stomach pain still occur. At first he suggested that lexapro dosage should be increased to 30 mg for more relief. But few minutes later he returns back and says, "I have actually changed my mind. I am not comfortable with increasing the dosage as increasing dosages higher than 20 mg can have unpleasant side effects like significant weight gain and weight gain will lead to more health complications". He just backed off like coward and I am very offended. I know for sure it would have helped me a lot. I read on internet that a man said he takes 40 mg of lexapro daily and his IBS is totally cured. Instead the gastroenterologist said eat small meals several times a day instead of eating large meals once or twice, avoid eating wheat foods, etc etc and that is just bogus bull shut advice i disagree with. Whom to complain about this? He is obstructing treatment of patient
According to FDA 40 mg of lexapro is maximum safe dosage allowed. I am taking only half of maximum and i see no reason why he can't increase to 30mg which is still 10 mg less than maximum safe dose per FDA. Gastroenterologist says everyone's body is different and such general guidelines don't work for all. I disagree

•Voting Question: Is it safe to increase lexapro dosage?
|
Look I dont want any body here to automatically say oh dont do it just because they think that kind of stuff is bad. I am at 10 mg a day and I am feeling slightly better after 4 weeks and 1 day. Iam feeling slightly better and am pretty much convinced that 20 mg or 15 mg would do the job. I want someone who is actually knowleged with this too tell me if its safe, becuase i really think it will make me better. I dont see how staying at 10 mg for a while will make me better (i dont know it mite) i just dont think it will. thats why i want to up it
good pt scott

• Increasing Lexapro from 5mg to 10mg ?
|
I have recently increased my dosage of 5mg of lexapro which i have been on for the past two months. I took the pill last night but today i have felt really lightheaded and kind of lethargic but more energized than i was the past couple of days and i felt more energetic than before. I had to up my dosage because i was always anxious and just had like an electric feeling going through my body. Right now i also feel like I have someone pulling on my eyes which is kind of annoying and it has been going on and off, the muscle twitching has really slowed down. I kind of have felt like the depersonalization was coming back a couple of days ago. Does anyone think this is just side effects and will wear down with time

• Should i increase my lexapro dosage?
|
i started lexapro about 3 weeks ago, and been on 10 mg for 2 weeks.
I feel better, i dont have the major lows and i barely have suicical thoughts for over a week. I feel very indifferent not happy not sad. My mind feels numb. (actruly scaring me a little)
what should i do? continue 10 mg? ive been told i can bump it to 20 mg but i dont know.
Of course i would go back to the doctor get 20 mg tablets instead of the 10 mg.
i will be seeing a counselor next january, its their busy season =\
