I've been on adderall for about six months now... it has helped me a lot with my focusing and getting school work done, but i still have severe anxiety which causes stress and a lack of motivation and was just recently put on lexapro....
are these two meds okay to take together? does lexapro help with lack of motivation ? and if anyone else is on these two meds or just one of them any feedback would be greatly appreciated!!

I'm asking this question here instead of asking my doctor right away, because I find that psychiatrist's explanations of drug effects often differ from REAL peoples!!!!
I've been taking 10 mg Lexapro daily for bipolar depression for 2.5 months. The adderall helps with motivation and focus. The combination allows me to actively work on my depression, without sinking too deeply into it.
But I find that my 2-2.5 hour "adderall experience" doesn't fit well into my daily life.
I'm a college student and the majority of my week consists of waking up around noon and spending the day busy, and often evenings as well. I try to wait at least 1 day (sometimes 2) between doses, so I won't develop tolerance too quickly. My experiences have been as follows:
The 20 mg Adderall IR (the lowest dose that affects me) always kicks in about 1/2 hour after ingestion, then hits its peak at around 2 hours. At around 2.5-3 hours, the crash QUICKLY begins. (This crash consists of spending the rest of the evening emotionally/physically drained until I fall asleep...which in itself is insanely difficult.)
Adderall is supposed to be taken 6 hours apart. But how can I possibly function steadily if between my Adderall doses there's a huge dip in my mood, focus, and energy???
What I've been doing is taking 20 mg then 20 mg 3 hours later. This makes the comedown twice as difficult and prolonged. I've stupidly tried to take another 20 mg on top of the other doses to keep me going into the evening. This third 20mg is not a good idea. The feelings of being productive and motivated begin to cross the line into feeling cracked out (talking too fast and sometimes getting ahead of myself). I’ve been trying, but still haven’t found a dosage plan that works well for me! For about 6 hours after ingestion, my body physically continues to be completely awake (yet worn out), while my mind slowed down hours earlier, leaving me in "Adderall hell"
I'm aware that the answer should be Adderall XR (which is supposed to last 10-12 hours). Following the same formula, it seems as if the jittery effects would continue for 12 hours, while the good effects would only last a short time. The problem is sleep...some people have told me that they adjust to the initial insomnia, and others never adjust.
I've found that by taking the Adderall 2-3 days in a row, the bad side effects become somewhat less pronounced (not significantly) but my tolerance shoots up. I love the euphoria, and am still able to experience it by taking frequent breaks.
If I do end up taking Adderall XR, I want to continue with the Adderall IR because of its flexibility.
Melatonin and valerian root are no match for an amphetamine, and I refuse to take a prescription sleep aid. 2 drugs are enough for me, and I am unable to take doses earlier in the day. I need help finding a solution with what I have!
Answers to ANY of these questions would be insanely appreciated. THANKS!!!

1. Has anybody reacted similarily to Adderall IR? What did you do?
2. What are your experiences with Adderall and sleep? Does it get better?
3. How can I maintain the Adderall euphoria for as long as possible and keep my tolerance low?
4. Has anybody been on Lexapro/Adderall? How did this work for you? Success stories are preferred…feeling hopeful is an incredible tool in overcoming depression.
5. What are your experiences with Adderall XR? Is it a smooth feeling? Or ups and downs? Also…how long does it last for you? If possible, describe it as detailed as you can!!!
6. If applicable, what combination of Adderal IR and Adderal XR do you take?
Kelle...I'm not in a manic state, I just like to do my research so I'll know what my doctor is talking about. I've researched the drug online in a factual sense as well. As for the prescription, I'm a healthy young adult and not dangerously depressed, so my doctor gave me authorization to experiment to see which doses work for me.

• Lexapro & Adderall Question?

I'm a 24 year old male 165lbs. I have been on Adderall for about 3 months now 20mg XR, and lexapro 10mg for about 40 days. The adderall seems to be working really well for my adhd. I'm not so sure about the lexapro, I can kind of tell a difference but not really. I'm taking it for anxiety, and the doctor said I might be slightly depressed? Tomorrow I'm going back to the doctor for a check up, I'm going to tell him that the lexapro doesn't seem to be working. What do you think he will recommend? What do you think I should suggest to him? Any help would be appreciated.

ok so im a 20 year old pre law student i also manage a tanning salon which i work 35 hours a week...so adderall is my savior, because i can actually get my h/w done and work full shifts with no sweat, lexapro has greatly helped my depression and anxiety ive been on it for about 1 yr..was just prescribed ambien to help my sleeping patterns, which have worsened since the adderall. i also enjoy my daily herbal cannabis remedy ;)
anyways this is my first time being on so many meds and its kind of weird to think i actually need em all! ha. am i good or can anyone suggest something if they think im goin down a bad road..ha

• Is it bad to combine lexapro, wellbutrin, and adderall?

I currently take 20mg of lexapro, 450mg of wellbutrin, and 10mg of adderoll per day (the adderoll I only take for workdays because the lexapro can make me sleepy and not able to focus). I just want to make sure that there isn't a problem with this combination or what information anyone might have about it. I suffer from OCD, depression, and who knows what else.

I've been taking 40 mg of Adderall XR and 20 mg Lexapro for almost a year now (treating ADD & depression). I'm about to not have insurance anymore, so I decided to quit taking them. Today is day 5, and I've been dizzy since day 2. Not to the point I'm going to fall over, but still, I'm feeling kind of like I'm not here. It's hard for me to talk... I feel "thick-tongued" like my tongue keeps getting in the way of my words. I have no other withdrawal symptoms (like depression, fatigue, crankiness, etc.), but the dizziness is really annoying. Has anyone had similar problems after quitting either drugs?

My doctor has recently put me on 3 different types of medication.Adderall20mg (for problems with my concentration in school). Lexapro10mg(for my anxiety,whcih i take with adderall) and lunesta 5mg (before i go to bed at night.)
First,i was wondering if it will better help release your medication if you eat something with it,because ill be really feeling good and then it just dies down.Ive only been on it for 2 weeks and i really dont think its wearing off.But ive heard that if you eat something it will help it release better in your system???
ALSO,are all these medications safe to take together(lexapro and adderall).what i mean is being on 3 different medications which are pretty serious drugs hurt me in any way? (lunesta i only take right before i go to bed.I go to a phyciatrist and therapist who are keeping a close eye on me.

hey i have been taking lexapro for a month now. i realized that i have add (did the tova test). however, they won't prescribe me adderall because my depression isnt cured yet or wutever (some bullshit, the psychologists and psychiatrists here at school clash a lot).
but im really worried about my grades and i have a 20mg adderral xr pill from a friend..im now really not sure if i should take it. i hear lexapro and adderall work together. and if i have add, might as well take it right?? like what should i do and has anyone had this experience?
