im a 15 year old girl (sophmore) and i take 20 mg of lexapro everyday and last nite i had alot of alcohol and i swear i started to see things. i thought logs were cats and small trees were people. i was at a party and i had a little trouble walking and dancing straight. also i know that by the end when the alc starts to wear off i get grumpy and frusterated with people. before the party i pregamed and had a good amount to drink and i began to be scared of everything (music, plants, cars EVERYTHING) so i smoked 3 ciggarettes to calm down and it worked, they were my ciggs by the way and then later on i smoked 2 more. i didnt have weed for the night.i just wanna know if these side effects are normal? and this isnt the first time i do this either...

i heard it can make sexual abilities *ejaculation, potency, struff like that* wither, but i also heard that it can help people with those problems to begin with. i ahve clinical depressiona nd i am taking lexapro, i ahve had an unusual sex life, due to my lifestyle of alcohol, drugs, and smoking, but i also have been wrecked with depression since i was a child. im thinking if i take the lexapro, i will decrease my desire to drinka nd do drugs, and it might actually make me have higher self esteem. if not then what are some general side effects and how common are they?

• Lexapro and alcohol not working?

Hello. I'm 26 yrs old, and have been on antidepressants off and on since I was 19 for panic disorder. I was last on Paroxetine (generic form of Paxil) which worked for awhile, but then stopped. My doc put me on Lexapro about 6 weeks ago but I find myself not liking the side effects. I drink alcohol almost every day and I am finding myself not wanting to take Lexapro anymore because of the side effects I feel the next day. I am EXTREMELY anxious, nauseous, and am afraid to go out at all. I feel like I'm in a catch 22 because I drink to get rid of the anxiety/panic which is ultimately I guess not letting my medicine kick in. PLEASE HELP SOMEONE!!
So if I just stop drinking do you think the side effects of the medicine will stop right off the bat? Also, I find that drinking hard liquor as opposed to beer makes it worse-is that because its so concentrated? I just feel like I'm in a loop.......

I turned 21 last June. I've been drinking alot since. I take lexapro for my anxiety. I struggle with agoraphobia which means I have a fear of getting an anxiety attack outside of my house. So I have a problem going far from my house. I've noticed oddly enough that alcohol helps me calm down enough to get out of my house. I know that I shouldn't count on alcohol or treat it like medicine but I do like to drink. My friend informed me that mixing alcohol and lexapro could ruin my kidneys and have bad effects on my body. I was reading some other posts on here about mixing the two and how they have really bad effects from it but I haven't noticed anything and I've been taking lexapro for about 3 years now. I did however just up my dose to 20mgs. So I guess I'm wondering if I don't see any side effects is it ok to have one day a week to have a few beers? I just don't want to have any unforeseen problems sneak up on me.

im going to a party tonight. a few drinks isnt optional and apparently the side effects will increase when taking lexapro and drinking alcohol. but can anything really serious happen to me?

• How does alcohol affect Cipralex (Lexapro)?

I was just prescribed Cipralex (called Lexapro in the USA) for anxiety, and was told by my doctor that I couldn't drink any alcohol. My pharmacist, however, told me it was OK to have a couple of drinks while on Cipralex, just to avoid binge drinking and drinking too often. I like drinking, I like going out with my friends and having a few beer. Now I know binge drinking is out of the question, but does anyone have any real, first hand information about having a few beer while on Cipralex (Lexapro)? If I get a headache or another mild side effect from the combination, it's fine, I'd just rather not go into cardiac arrest. Thank you in advance.

I have been using valium and sleeping tablets but these aren't a long term solution. I've also tried effexor xl but all it did was make me constipated for 7 days. So basically I'm wondering which would work best for my problem with the least amount of side effects especially constipation. Anyone from a medical background or personal experience with information answering this would be much appreciated thanks.
I have a two week supply of both.

I am really nervous about side effects, Lexapro has way too many of them for me. I have not heard much about Buspar. What do you know about it? Am I ok to start it during the week? I don't want it to make me sick because I cannot afford a day off of work. I know this is a bad question, but I am curious, can you drink alcohol on Buspar? On Saturdays I go to football games and would love to be able to still drink there. I could not do that with Lexapro because it made me sick. Thanks for your help :)
