• Lexapro Dosages?

I've been taking Lexapro, Trileptal, and Ativan for 18 months. Recently, my Lexapro was increased to 30mg a day, which my insurance company informed me is over the FDA recommended dosage. Has anyone taken this much or known anyone who does? I was taking 20mg (with the 450 mg of Trileptal) daily to control Bipolar Disorder, and the extra 10mg is to control OCD, but lately it's been knocking me out.
My other question, is has anyone ever heard of using high dosages of Lexapro as a sleeping pill?
*I was prescribed this higher dosage by my psychiatrist, so I guess I can assume he knows more than the insurance company, but more than the FDA? That's what I'm skeptical about. I've had a psychiatrist take me off Paxil cold turkey, so I don't trust them all.

My friend just told me he took a bunch of lexapro. He said 5... of 20 mg each i think so 100mg. Im guessing he usually only takes one of the 20 mg per day.... i tried looking online but couldnt findm uch on actual dosages that would result in lexapro overdoses.... is he going to be okay or should I tell someone (I don't know what the highest dosages are, maybe some people are prescribed 100mg ?).
In reference to A C's answer, I haven't asked him, but he's on it because of his parents seperation ad the results etc, and that happened about 3 years ago i think...I'm not sure if he started taking lexapro right then or after a bit. And I don't think it was a suicide attempt, but rather a "quick fix for a bad day" from what he told me

I am on 10mg and it helps but is not as effective as past meds I have been on. I know it's a very low dose and wonder if it's the medication or the dosage.

On 30 mg now. Started on 10 mg. 20 mg made me really nervous. Now I am feeling much better and use to the medication. Is it ok to stay on 30 mg for awhile? Is that too much? I don't like taking medication but I really had to get on medication for my anxiety. Lexapro has been a miracle!

I was on 10mg. However, my depression symptoms had not improved. I was easily agitated and irritable. My dr. increased my dosage to 20 mg. Now, I just want to eat, crawl under a rock and sleep for 20 years. I've gained 5 lbs in a week-and-a-half. What is wrong with me?!?!?!?!
