• Can teens be drug free w/ Bipolar or Depression? Info needed on Cymbalta Lexapro Lanictal?
|
I just wanted to learn a little about these drugs before going to my sons Dr. appointment. They might not even come up but I would like to get some information on them. Also if people with Bipolar can have a normal life maybe with out drug therpy and just therpy? I know this is a wide range question depending on a persons situation. Some say drugs can numb feelings and not get to the root of the problem, others say with out them maybe they wouldn't exist. I feel Bipolar and depression are so hard to understand but as a mom I need to, then again just trying to understand a teenager w/ raging hormones is difficult. I know Its harder now then when I was in school, there are so many more pressures. Sometimes I think as adults we need to take a step back and remember how it was . [and then times that by 2 in todays world] So any infomation out there would be greatly appreatied. Thanks!

• If you've used it for anxiety, what was your experience with the drug BuSpar?
|
Also, if you used it in conjuction with an SSRI like Lexapro to fully knock out the anxiety, that would be helpful info.

• What's the deal with Lexapro?
|
I was prescribed 10 mg of Lexapro and have been on it for 2 days now. I'm taking it for extreme anxiety, depression, and constant worry. I HATE taking meds and I'm one of those people that read every single thing about the drug and think every single side effect is gonna happen to me! So, what I've read so far is that I'm gonna be an emotionless fatty! I don't wanna gain weight! I am a healthy eater and love working out! The horror stories I'm reading are scaring the crap out of me! The side effects I am experiencing are diarreah and really bad nausea, food doesn't even interest me on this drug. I would like some honest and positive feedback about this drug and some info on the whole stupid weight gain thing! Will I feel better soon?

• Ativan was the final drug that helped me, finally?
|
Ive been a very recluse person for nearly 8 years, I hardly ever go outside, and I do mean hardly, no where. When a company built a large mall in my small city years ago, I had yet to see it, thats how long its been that ive actually stepped outside my door.
My problems when going out is large crowds, I get so hyper and think everyone is looking at me, I get very anxious. My doctor has tried every single drug, I mean ive taken everything. From Prozac, Zoloft, Effexor, Lexapro to Paxil, whatever there is ive tried it.
The only drug that helped a little was Zoloft and a massive consumption of alcohol, and even then it wasnt good. Finally my doctor prescribed me Ativan (Lorazepam). Just today I tried it out, a very small dose. 0.5MG and I felt comfortable for the first time in 7 years to goto the mall, I had no fears anymore, no more being anxious or jumpy, or not making eye contact with people.
I was myself again, what made it even better was that IT WAS ME, unlike SSRI's they made feel crazy. The Lorazepam I was on made me feel like myself, its not like I was gasping for breath or made me feel tired, I was just no longer scared of the world around me, I got so so happy I bursted in tears when I got back tonight, it was the first time I ever talked to people outside my house.
The best part about all of it was that this drug was situational, meaning that I could take it when needed be. I took this drug to help me and it did, now the problem is that ive been searching google and some really scary info has been coming up, like how its addictive, but im not an addictive person, I just want to get over my fears. Im sorry for the long winded speech, but just wanted to get that out there.
Should I be worried ?

• Lexapro Withdrawl?
|
I just took my first Lexapro pill today. (10mg) After reading on the internet today about people's experiences with this drug, both while on it, and the terrible withdrawl effects, I have decided I do not want to take it. My question is since I have only taken one pill, can I just not take anymore - will I experience any withdrawl...or will I be o.k.? I do plan on asking my doctor tomorrow when his office is open, but just trying to get some info beforehand. Thanks!
In response to some of the questions, I was put on Lexapro b/cuz I told my doctor that I had been stressed and feeling depressed, I also exhibit symptoms of GAD. I don' t like the idea of having to take something EVERY DAY, and the side effects / withdrawl effects scare me. My doctor gave me Valium before, which Ioved because I could just take it when I felt I needed it (by the way, I had a month supply and it lasted me 6 months - 2 mg tablets) So, I don't NEED the Lexepro to survive or anything, but I would like to get rid of my anxiety, like I said...you just see all kinds of horror stories online, and it scares me.
