• Lexapro experience?

Hi, everyone! I'm in the process of switching from Paxil to Lexapro and was wondering if anyone has feedback on Lexapro. I'll listen to it all...the good/bad/ugly! I've been diagnosed with panic disorder for 9 years. Right now, I'm on 30mg of Paxil and 2.5mg of Lexapro and am slowly making this switch with my doctor. Any comments would be appreciated!
Paxil definitely helped me get back on track. When I was on 40mg, I would go YEARS without a panic attack. The reason I'm swtiching is because Paxil was elevated to a Category D drug (shown to harm fetuses) and I am thinking about trying for a baby soon. I don't have the option to get off meds entirely, so I'm trying to make the smartest choice.
I guess I should also tell you I'm a 28 year old female! Did any of you gain weight on Lexapro? I'm looking to shed my "Paxil weight"!!!

• Does anyone experience side effects with lexapro?

I've been on lexapro a little over a month and I've been experiencing bloating.... Nausea and lots of belching...... Not to mention I yawn all the time! I had an upper gi and an abdominal ultrasound to check my gallbladder everything was normal. Is anyone else taking lexapro and experiencing side effects.

• Women taking Lexapro: Did you experience a decreased libido?

From the Lexapro website: "Lexapro is well tolerated by most people. The most commonly reported side effects of Lexapro are nausea, insomnia, problems with ejaculation, somnolence, increased sweating, fatigue, decreased libido, and anorgasmia. Most of the side effects experienced by patients taking Lexapro are mild to moderate and go away with continued treatment, and usually do not cause patients to stop taking Lexapro."
Did you experience a decreased libido? If so, how much did it drop and did it come back as you continued on the drug. I know this is pretty hard to measure. My wife says it has killed hers and we have basically stopped. Seems kind of extreme but possible I guess.

kelly: Nice Save! I don't know why men take this stuff personal. Fortunatly, I take Adderall for ADHD so I KNOW about effects and side effects but there was still this, "its because of my small..." is why she isn't. Stupid male brain! :-)

• Does anyone have experience with Lexapro side effects?

I have been taking Lexapro for almost a year. I initially gained weight which wasn't unexpected but I can't seem to lose it even after this amount of time. Also, I am noticing alot of short term memory problems and word finding problems. Has anyone experienced similar problems?

• Did anyone experience nausea with lexapro, and if so did it subside?

I have had depression a long time and have been taking Wellbutrin for it (worked for a while) but then I started getting extremely anxious to the point where I was dizzy and nauseous all of the time! My doctor put me on the xanax and the nausea and dizziness went away! Well, a couple weeks later I started on 5 mg of lexapro and will eventually go up to 10mg. My husband suggested maybe I take it in the evening.
Did anyone experience that taking it at night helped relieve the nausea? Also, did you notice if the nausea subsided? I'm already feeling better emotionally, but not sure if it's a placebo affect? Thanks!

I just got put on Lexapro and I wonder how it worked for others. I have severe anxiety and have been on 100mg of Zoloft without much improvement. Think this one will work better?

My doctor believe I am having panic attacks so he has put me on Lexapro. I seem to have reactions to everything so I am a little weary about taking it. Can anyone give me some info on it concerning how it affected you? I know what side effects are listed, so I don't need to know what they are, I am just concerned as to how it has affected real people. Thanks in advance.

I'm going to start taking this medication and I'm a little nervous about everything I've heard about the withdrawls. A lot of people said it's horrible?

• Who is having bad experience with Lexapro?

I was on Celexa and did wonderfully until my libido was shot. My doc put me on Lexapro for that reason. Now the Lexapro is making me more angry and depressed! Im calling the doc tomorrow. I want to go back on Celexa tomorrow. I hate Lexapro.
If I had a choice between happiness and sex I'll pick happiness.

• What has been your experience on Lexapro?

I have been on and off anti-depressants for most of my adult life. I was pushed to ask for them again because of extreme anxiety that I have never experienced before. I have not started them yet but have found that my anxiety has lessened somewhat just by having the pills in my posession. I hate the thought of daily pills, but I also hate the thought of future panic attacks. I also like wine once in awhile. I'm not an idiot. I know that the doctor would say no alcohol. Just looking for some real life stories.
