• Has anyone experienced Hypothermia after tapering off LEXAPRO?
|
I started taking lexapro 10mg 4 years ago when I still had insurance and I began tapering off last year and then 2 months after being completely off it I experienced the weirdest HYPOTHERMIC experience along with other sensations and thoughts that almost made me check into a Hospital...luckily I survived the whole ordeal and immediately I went back onto Lexapro which really sucks....I get my lexapro from a friend who gets it for me for free..(long story) but Im considering going to see a psychiatrist soon. I don't have insurance now, but I'll manage I guess...

• Tapering down Lexapro - withdrawal HELP?
|
My Pdoc feels I need to change from my 20mg Lexapro to effexor. So I am tapering Lex: from 20mg to 10mg; this was supposed to be done while I start on 37.5 mg Effexor. I had a strange reaction - was completely mind-frozen after my first Effexor dose, so the doc asked me to not take any effexor for now and taper down lex. Doc says I sould not notice any withdrawal effects.
Past 4 days I have been taking 10mg Lex. I have noticed
* my fatigue has lessened.
* I am feeling very indifferent. Not even feeling irritable or angry like when I was on lex. This is scaring me - makes me wonder if I have become MORE depressed or its just some side -effect.
* Feeling somewhat blue, not sad... just a feeling of deep loss.
* No anxiety (used to be rather wired on Lex 20mg)
* Feeling out of it, a bit like I am in a dream ... disconnected from the world. (felt dreamy/unconnected even before when I was on 20mg, but now its a different dream-like feeling! - distressing nevertheless)
* Unable to know how I am feeling
* Not much change in sleep
* not reacting to anything - a feeling of resignation
* Appetite is better
* unexplained feeling of dread
My understanding is that any increase or decrease in dose takes a while to affect the peak concentration levels of the med to reach a stable level for the renewed effects to be felt.
What should I expect..... am I undergroing withdrawal... or is the worse yet tome come???

•Voting Question: Tapering off Lexapro?
|
I have been on Lexapro only about a year. I was on 10mg until this past October when I was upped to 20mg. I never had any bad side effects getting on, just a little indegestion. My anxiety issues were not constant and actually infrequent. I have started tapering off, I have been taking only 15mg the past week, and I plan on dropping down to 10 for about 2 weeks, then to 5mg for a week and then be off. Is this too fast? I have heard about horrible side effects from weening off, but I am not experiencing anything at all.... am I doing it too fast?
I read that if you didn't really experience any problems getting on your probably wont experience any getting off... except maybe towards the end is that true?

• I'm thinking about tapering off Lexapro- Any advice?
|
Been taking Lexapro for 3 1/2 years now for dibilitating panic attacks. It has worked great! I still experience the occasional worry, but nothing compared to what I used to. I know that I need to work with my doc on this but thought maybe I could get some advice before I make my decision. I have been doing some research on tapering off Lexapro and have read hundreds of reports from people saying that they have experience horrific side effects like brain shivering, ice cold sensations through head, brain freezing. Does anyone have any words of wisdom? My main question is do I have to worry about the panic attacks coming back? They were so bad 3 years ago that I couldn't make it to work and my mom had to take care of my kids- I was like a prisoner! I don't want to go through that ever again but I feel like it's time to stop the Lexapro.

• Tapering off lexapro to wellbutrin???
|
I am currently taking lexapro 30mg. I would like to taper down and start to take wellbutrin.
Should I taper off lexapro fully first then begin wellbutrin? (so I can distinguish the wellbutrin effects from the lexapro withdrawal side effects?) Or not necessary.
Im going to my doctor Tuesday. Just wanted to hear thoughts.

•Voting Question: How do I finish tapering off Lexapro?
|
I've been on Lexapro for 9 months at 10 mg per day. I've had some bad side effects from the meds and decided to, at the very least, try reducing my dosage.
I've read such 'horror stories' about the withdrawal symptoms I was ready for the worst. I cut my dosage from 10 mg to 5 mg per day. It has been 10 days now at the 5 mg dosage and I've had *no* withdrawal symptoms (no depression, either - I was prescribed it for 'environmental issues' and things have improved greatly).
I don't want to taper off too fast and I'm not sure what is the best way to proceed? Should I stay at this dosage for a longer period? Should I alternate days (ex: take it one day, skip the next)?
Thank you

•Voting Question: How long will Lexapro withdraws last?
|
I have been on antidepressants for 7 years and have tapered off Lexapro. I have been without the drug entirely for a full week since tapering off for a month. How long will the withdraws last? I have brain zaps, dizziness, nausea and diarrhea. Also, I gained 30 lbs while on this medications, will the weight come off?

•Voting Question: Tapering off of Lexapro?
|
I had been taking both Lexapro and Wellbutrin XL for about a year. Under my doctor's guidance, I have successfully tapered off of the Wellbutrin XL, and started to taper off of Lexapro about a month ago. I have tapered from 20 mg, down to 15, then 10, then 5. 3 days ago I decided to take my last pill and today I am feeling very drugged up. Foggy minded, and a little dizzy. Almost as if I haven't slept in a few days, kind of feeling. It's very irritating!
I have read that omega-3's and B vitamins are good for people suffering from "brain zaps". Do you think it could help with what I am going through?
Should I cut the 5mg's in half, and take those to ease the transition?

|
I've tapered off Lexapro and the side effects are killing me! I feel fine as far as depression and anxiety are concerned, but the physical symptoms are awlful - dizziness, nausea, nightmares, night sweats, strange tingling in my face and head . . .
