• Took Valerian Passion Flower herbal capsules this morning. Is it ok to start Lexapro tonight?

Hi, I took 2 Valerian Passion Flower herbal capsules early this morning and I got Lexapro from my doctor this afternoon for some anxiety I've been having. I think it would be okay if I take it tonight before I go to bed but wanted to see what other people thought? Thanks in advance.

• Why can't I take Valerian root when I also take Lexapro?

I used Valerian Root for about a year before my Dr. put me on Lexapro. I still need something to help me sleep. I don't want to cause any problems for my health. But I would like to know what harm can happen if I did take a Valerian Root to help me get some sleep.

• If you combine Valerian and Lexapro (SSRI) are there any adverse interactions?

Such as Serotonin Syndrome, my understanding is that Valerian root enhances the production of serotonin. Wouldn't this cause Serotonin Syndrome. Has any one combined these two? How about Kava Kava would you expect to have the same problem?

I take Lexapro. I would like to try something like Valerian or Melatonin. Is it safe to take either of these?

In light of other question, that I am off lexapro for 3days now and experiencing w/drawl symptoms. I had been on lexapro for about 4 yrs, except when pg w/my last child, then started day she was born. (tho took while pg w/my 2nd child)
do you think st johns wort or anything otc would help till monday? valerian root?

i have suffered for almost 3 years of anxiety & panic attacks & have had seen a psychologist & where 1 is the lowest you can feel & 10 the best you can feel today i am a 5 but i want to be a 10 i want a quality way of life , so i spoke to my doctor & he prescribed lexapro & am concerned of taking this medication & will like to try first an alternative be that a VITAMIN OR HERBS?
i was told that st johns wort is good & also read online comparing it to Prozac & the chemist also suggested Valerian tablets & are there some ingredients related in lexapro to this vitamins?
anyone with some knowledge or personal experience can you give me some suggestions?

Hey guys. I have a few questions. I’ve been doing some research(this site rocks by the way) and I decided to give 5-HTP, valerian and chamomile tea a shot. I do suffer from anxiety(I feel like im having a heart attack out of nowhere) and slight depression( I feel emotional once in a while for no reason). My question is, can these be mixed together and are there any side effects. Im currently taking St. Johns wort and I must say it does work, but only temporarily. I was prescribed lexapro(worst drug on earth stay away) and had the most terrible results after only two pills, I was also given Xanax and it was a God send, but because of its addictive nature my doc wouldn’t refill my prescription. So I decided to try the "natural" route. Please Help!!!!!

I just stop taking Lexapro within 2 days, cuz i decided i don't want to be on that crap.. I have Anxiety and tomorrow, i'm going to a Natural food store.. I'm picking up some Valerian Root and wanted to know, how you like it !>>>???? Thankd
