• Lexapro Vs Zoloft antidepressants why do doctors these things?
|
My wife’s doctor just changed her from Lexapro to Zoloft what is the Differences. I don’t think it will make any differences because she doesn’t seam to take them every day. How will not taking it everyday affect her. She is recovering from a sleeping pill addiction. Can Zoloft make you sleepy if you take more than proscribed? When doctor start changing pill it makes me nerves but I know they know best most of the time Just looking for a little advise.

• Lexapro vs Zoloft vs Xanaz xs Klonopin, panic disorder but I'm not depressed? What do I do?
|
Please please help.
I had severe, I mean Severe panic attacks with agoraphobia. Specific to certain situations based on severe past trauma (torture, I wont go into the details), but certain random stuff would trigger panic. I couldn't leave my front door without nearly having a heart attack, getting dizzy, loss of all saliva, and nearly losing consciousness, and losing all balance. In the house I was totally fine, my normal and very optimistic :) self (unless we got low on food, then I'd have a few less intense panic, but not severe) I couldn't ride the elevator, or ride in a car or bus. I stayed inside my apartment for nearly 2 years.
Well Zoloft did nothing, one half dose .25mg? made me so anxious, totally killed my stomach, bleeding stool, I couldn't sleep for 3 days straight, my legs kept jerking and shocking in bed and I felt like my arms were being electrocuted, and I had never been depressed, but suddenly my mind was racing extremely fast and I felt oddly depressed, which I never ever have been, and I still had panic attacks but worse and constant. So I stopped it and felt my normal "agoraphobic self" who was totally fine while indoors, and resorted to just chatting online with friends and talking on the phone.
So after another month nearly giving up with several painful and nearly infected tooth cavities and unable to get to the dentist, thinking I was sure to just die of an brain infection because I simply couldnt get outside no matter how much my teeth hurt, I pleaded to my regular doctor, who made a housecall, he gave me Xanax and it worked, the next day, I was in the elevator, the dentist was doing all sorts of work, I even got to see the last snow, and went to the park a few times. I felt mostly normal (they had to up the dose tho) I use 1mg a day when at home, 3.5mg a day when I have to go outside, but I really made so much progess. Ive been riding in a car the last few weeks, I even went shoppng today, In a crowd!!. No panic! I felt like I should be, but this stuff stopped all panic in its tracks immediately. I have already been trying to gradually lower my dose on my own very gradually. BUT.
Now the psych says that Xanax is addictive (After only a month and a half? and Ive already been lowering my own dose a bit?) and he wants to switch me to Lexapro, which I just read is another SSRI antidepresant like Zoloft. I'm terrified. The experience on Zoloft was hell, pure hell. I dont want to be stuck in the house again, I like being outdoors. I dont want to go through electric shocks in my body, or the extreme stomach pain, or racing mind, all that stuff freaked me out, and it forces this very odd depression on you thats unexplainable, like some sort of forced sadness...and thats not me, I am a very happy and, very comedic :) person, just scared or skeptical at times but NOT depressed. Minus the panic, I am totally cool, and my normal high school self :) I had just taken the time to read and chat with friends to use up my time stuck here inside. But now I'm free and outdoors!
What should I do? I still have a few serious tooth cavities left. And cant repeat the last 2 years of isolation again. I must continue seeing my dentist. I'll be talikng to my regular doctor about this. But I'm bothered. The psych told me not to worry that Lexapro is nothing like Zoloft, but I found out there almost the same med! SSRI, and according to a friend of mine has horrible SSRI withdrawal and cannot stop. Which sound even more addicting even tho the docs say its not addicting, with "brain zaps!?!" Everyone on boards says that its unbearably addicting (SSRI's), physically.
The psych originally suggested klonopin, but since Im doing "so well" this meeting: he decided to opt for lexapro instead.
I don't want to be a guinea pig, I am not an addictive personality by any means and have extreme willpower and know pretty much how to adjust the xanax doses without any addiction it seems, atleast.
Either way, I dont want the panic attacks again, and dont want to be a guinea pig. What should I say. I dont want to be stuck indoors again, it was frustrating. I am just so happy to be able to do normal stuff.
Any advice?
Yep thats what Ive started doing, I lowered the xanax dose drastically so that I can atleast have enough to get my teeth taken cae of.
If Lexapro is anyhing like Zoloft than Im totally screwed.
If Klonopin and Xanax are supposedly addictive
(which I'm unconvinced having seen Zoloft withdrawal myself in a friend, and a family member, that were both horrific to the point of maybe say heroin withdrawal, I mean blood curdling withdrawal that lasted for many months) regardless of what the med books say
What else are my alternatives? I might try lexapro just to see if it nearly kills me like the Zoloft did, but if Xanax and Klonopin are so "awful" what else is there? I don't want a medicine that forces me into a weird intension depression/sadness mode. I am a happy person and "forced chemical depression" creeps me out"
Is there some other panic disorder medicine out there I should suggest to my doctor?
And both my friend and cousin "Tapered" their Zoloft according to doctors instructions, very slowly, one tried for a year and couldnt get off, the withdrawal was so bad.

• Lexapro vs. Zoloft...I have been on effexor but stopped because it wasnt working, then switched to zoloft.?
|
Zoloft worked at first, but ive noticed lately that i am extremely tired all the time, even if i sleep well. also, it makes me feel completely unmotivated. Ive only been on it for about 2 months but still. I was thinking of asking my doctor about switching to lexapro. Does lexapro make you feel more awake? Better or worse than zoloft? Any info or experience you have will be appreciated.

• Lexapro VS Zoloft 2 Part Question?
|
(Part 1)
I am on 100 mg Zoloft a day. It works amazing for me. The only problem is that I have gained 25 lbs on it. And I work out and Im not a pig...so I know its not any changes Ive made. So I know this is the nasty lil colprit! My friend told me that Lexapro does NOT cause weight gain....is this true? Have you ever been on levapro what are your experiences?
(Part 2)..
If you gained weight while taking Zoloft when you went off the drug did you lose the weight rather quickly or at all?

• Celexa/Lexapro Vs Zoloft?
|
Alright so I've narrowed it down to two meds: Zoloft and Celexa/Lex
I was on Zoloft from ages 13-17 and it worked great for me. The only problem I have is that it seems to cause panic attacks in people for the first 4 weeks, and as someone with anxiety now, I don't know if I could handle that :(
The issue I have with Celexa/Lex is that since Celexa is in the same PGP substrate family as Paxil and Effexor, and I had horrid withdrawal symptoms and Serotonin Syndrome from the Pax, do you think I should even try Celexa/Lex?
I'd like to hear some debate between Celexa/Lex users and Zoloft users.
There's also Emsam, but I heard that makes some people really angry lol. I think I'll take anger over anxiety and withdrawal symptoms!
I'm currently on Effexor for 3.5 weeks and need to get off it NOW because I've read that the withdrawal symptoms are even worse than Paxil, and I've experienced the Paxil nightmare after being on it for 10 years

•Voting Question: Opinion on Zoloft vs. Lexapro...?
|
I have been taking Zoloft for years and swear by it. I recommend it to friends and they swear by it too. One drawback though—My libido. Its been suppressed for a loooong time. So I am frustrated and asked my doctor to put me on Lexapro, which my brother takes, and swears by.
Here is my question...Is Lexapro going to give me some libido back and make me feel as positive as Zoloft does? I know it's different for each person's genetics, but a general consensus would help.

|
My doctor will be taking me off of Effexor because of the side effects and she said she will start me on one of these meds instead. I have anxiety, panic attacks, etc. Anyone take these meds? I don't want to gain anymore weight. Effexor made me gain 15lbs.

•Voting Question: ZOLOFT vs. LEXAPRO...?
|
Which in your personal opinion works best?
I know everyone reacts differently so one persons answer will be completely different than others
I am terrified of taking the medication but cannot live like this anymore.
Also, Is it possible for the medication to cause permanent brain damage?
My dr gave me Zoloft I just don't know how I'll react to it.
