• What major MLB transactions have taken place this off-season?
|
Being too focused on football, I haven't kept up. Can someone fill me in on what's happened over the off-season? I know about Bay and Vlad. That's about it though.

• What does it mean when the MLB transaction page says a player was "outrighted" to the minors?
|
My question is really three questions. E.G: On April 1, according to the Yahoo sports MLB home page's transactions list, Todd Williams, a pitcher for the Baltimore Orioles, was "outrighted" to the minors. Now, I am familiar with the fact that, within a young player's first few years (4?) in organised baseball, his MLB team can exercise the right to send him down to the minors, or call him up to the Big League club, at will, for the first few times. (How many times?) But what does "outright" mean in this context; from a contractual, legal standpoint, what is being accomplished here? How does this action of "outrighting" him specifically differ from merely sending him down or calling him up. I would really appreciate any specific citations you can provide in evidence.

• Regarding MLB Transactions, please help!?

I've never really understood the difference between these two transactions in MLB. Whats the difference between a Major leauge team purchasing the contract of a player from its minor league affiliate and a big leauge team calling up a player from a minor league affilitate?

• This question requires your time and patience (MLB Player Transactions)?
|
I just accidentally deleted my file for MLB: The Show 07 from my memory Card. I am currently unable to go online with my Playstation, so I can't do roster updates.
Over these last few months, I've manually updated every MLB player transaction so I would have the most recent rosters. Can someone please list all the player movements I have to make to have the most current rosters?
Example: Betemit to the Yankees, Nixon to the Indians, Wells to the Dodgers, etc.

• Why do MLB teams have to purchase a player's contract from the minor leagues?
|
My thinking is that the team already has a contract with that player, so in the MLB Daily transactions, why do they list the team as purchasing the contract. Is the team paying themselve's for the contract or is this a price the player receives for being called up to the show?

• Why is it that all of these trades are being made after the trade deadline in MLB?
|
I have seen at least five trades within the last two weeks since the MLB trade deadline. I know that waiver claims are allowed after the deadline, but these aren't claims, players are being traded for each other. Why are these trades being allowed and why are there so many more post-deadline transactions than in previous years?
