• Weening or stopping Lexapro because of side effects?
|
All of you doctors or nurses out there I have a question about getting off Lexapro. I have been taking Lexapro for about 9 months, originally I was prescribed 20mg and was increased to 40mg about 4 months ago . In the beginning I was using marijuana and oxycodone with the Lexapro and experienced no side effects. Now I have been off of marijuana for 3 months and oxys for about a month and went through about a week of withdrawal symptoms from getting off oxys. Recently I have been having nausea, diahrea, tremors, and increased sweating. My psychiatrist said to stop taking the Lexapro immediatly, while my regular physician said to ween myself off. Any input from educated people about this would help me alot. I am debating what to do.....Thanks :)
No drugs are being used except prescription xanax. Thanks

• Anyone have Lexapro side effects start years after starting? Heartburn, gas & diarrhea almost daily ~from Lex?
|
The first couple years of taking Lexapro I had no side effects. For the last year +, I have had abdominal pain, gas, heartburn & diarrhea almost daily. I have asked my Dr. 3xs if it could be from the Lexapro, but he keeps telling me no. I have a decent diet ~I eat lots of fruit & salad & drink nothing but water. My Dr. just want to give me more med's for the symptoms (prilosec, etc). I take Pepcid and GasX almost every day. To test my Lexapro theory I went off it for three days (I know your not supposed to just stop, but I am at my wits end and really wanted to see if this is the problem). The first day my sypmtoms were the same. The second day they were slightly better and the third day there was no heartburn at all. I plan on telling my Doc, but I know he will just tell me that it is not related. Has anyone else had these side effects from Lex? Anyone been on Lex for awile with no side effects, only to have them develop later? Don't side effects happen in the beginning only?

•Voting Question: Is it really side effects from Lexapro or is he falling out of love with me?
|
My boyfriend and I have been going out for 1 year and 7 months. Lately he has been acting very detached. He is acting almost like he is falling out of love with me. We used to be very emotionally and physically attached. Recently he stopped calling me back when he said he would, he doesn't hold my hand or even cuddle like he used to (I know that sounds cliche) when he talks to me he seems like he doesn't care what I have to say and is almost in a rush to leave when were together. He has drastic mood changes and gets upset when I can't follow them. He recently started the anti-depressant, Lexa pro. I confronted him about his change in attitude and he blamed it on the medication, is this legitimate? Do you know any of the side effects of this particular education that causes withdrawal from family and relationships? I'm at a loss and I'm not sure how much longer I can handle this.

• what were your side effects from lexapro?
|
Okay so this is my 2nd time trying lexapro. the first time my doctor started me off at 20mg the first day. I had no idea that was way too much to start anyone off at. That same day my heart was racing, i couldn't stop talking, I was on cloud nine. about three hours later i crashed hard from it and actually threw up. I felt as though I was coming down from a night filled of cocain, i guess that would be the best way to put it. ( and no I don't do drugs ) That scared me so much I didn't try any sort of anxiety/depression medicine for almost a year.
I went back yesterday because I'm having a really hard time again and this time he started me on 10 mg. I didn't get the happy high feeling, I just feel "frozen" my mind is racing but I don't want to talk, it almost feels like it would take to much energy to form a sentence. And my heart seems like it might be racing a little bit too.
Is this "normal"? did anyone else have this. Also I'm a tiny woman. I'm only 114lbs. Is that too much depending on weight? Can you cut the pill in half?
I'm just really shaky, I also have a son and I'm a single mom so I don't like this at all for that reason too, I need to be able to be a great mommy and not just sitting there like a lump.

• What side effects from Lexapro have you experienced?
|
I've been on Lexapro for about a year for anxiety and panic(also been on Xanax for the same amount of time and Ritalin for 15 years for ADHD). It seems that I get bouts of depersonalization to where I feel like I'm in a dream, as if I'm hazy and halfway asleep. These feelings come and go sometimes lasting only a day, or sometimes two weeks before fading. I can still function, work, drive, and do daily activities but its a bothersome feeling which leads me to think that there is something wrong with me when in reality I know nothing is. I'm starting to get the urge to talk with my doctor and try to get off of this medication over the course of a few weeks as I know it can't be stopped suddenly. Has anyone else experienced this with Lexapro?

•Voting Question: How long will side effects last from lexapro withdrawal?
|
I was taking Wellbutrin XL 150mg and Lexapro 20mg together daily for a few years. I cant afford it with no insurance now and wanted to get off drugs anyway so I tapered of Lexapro... I was down about 2.5 mg a day until about a week ago. I stopped taking Wellbutrin cold turkey about a week ago but starting feeling lifeless and weak so I had to start taking it again yesterday. I feel lots of anxiety today and feel sick. I have been getting "brain zaps", flu-like symptoms, as well as anxiety from Lexapro withdrawal. Can anyone tell me how long this will last?

• Withdrawal from lexapro?
|
I have been having horrible body aches, the worst headache that I have ever experience (going on day 4 now), it looks like the room is spinning around me, and extreme nausea. I have been VERY aggitated and verbally agressive too. It is really causing issues in my personal life. I stopped taking Lexapro about 5 days ago, after only being on for 3 months. Could this be the cause? I have NEVER felt like this. I feel so anxious but yet exhausted. For the past 2 nights, I have slept HORRIBLE and had very weird dreams. I woke up every 2 hours on the dot last night. It wasnt until just a few minutes ago that I considered this could possibly be side effects of stopping the lexapro. What really aggravates me is that my doctor told me it is NOT addictive and will not suffer withdrawal symptoms after stopped. I mean, goodness gracious, I have never done drugs but I can only imagine this is what a drug addict feels like after stopping. I feel like I am going to go nuts. I hate feeling sick and helpless.
How long will this feeling last?
I am SO glad that I have not been on it longer than 3 months.. I can't imagine having worse symptoms than this.

• Lexapro side effects?
|
In the past (before I was pregnant), I was on 20mg daily of Lexapro for just under 2 years. During my pregnancy, I stopped.
Now I am back on 15mg daily (which seems to be working fine), and I have been back on it for just about 5 months.
I am taking it for GAD (general anxiety disorder) & depression.
I have NOT had side effects such as: nausea, sleeplessness, anorgasmia, etc.
I am generally more happy! But, these are wierd things I've noticed, anybody know if these symptoms/side effects are normal, or even from the meds?: hard to concentrate, zone out easily, either really talkative or not at all, some lightheadedness, wierd dreams/nightmares...
Any insight is appreciated :)
