my doctor wants to put me on lexapro for my generalized anxiety disorder. i just wanted to know how this medicine has effected other people who have taken it. do you think i will gain weight, will it put me in a fog? any info is very helpful. thank you.

I stopped taking Lexapro about a couple months ago, but ever since I started taking it up until now I've never been able to feel fully rested no matter how much I sleep. I know those kind of drugs can cause a person to feel fatigue while he is taking them, but is it something that could still be affecting me even after weaning myself off of it?

You should .A drug called Lexapro almost killed me because I believe I am allergic and the doctor never caught it.If you have any power in government I am pleading please some one help get this deadly drug off of the market.Their are over 50 extreme side effects that this drug causes and can cause death.Tell me about your experience.

I was only about 15/16 when I was put on this medicine to battle my anxiety issues. After my parents divorce I kept having anxiety attacks. I hated taking it because I could feel myself acting different, not in a good way. I could compare it to what I think it would feel like to be high. Anyways, I didn't want to continue taking it because I didn't feel normal. I began taking it only when my mother brought it up/ made me. At that age I didn't know the dangers of a serious drug like Lexapro. I would take one every couple days, or for a few days in a row and then none for a couple days. I was very inconsistent. It's been about 4 years since I quit taking it completely.
For so long I have symptoms of restless leg syndrome, bad, I'm irritable, tired, I drop things all of the time, I jumble my words when I talk, I have nausea. I typed most of these "symptoms" into google and Lexapro withdrawal symptoms came up as a possible answer. I had no idea that this existed. My question is that is this possible so many years later? Did my unknown abuse of the anti-anxiety medicine result in an almost permanent withdrawal?! Is there anything I can do that will help this without using any medication, since Lexapro as a kid I hate the idea of taking meds to help.

Ever since I went on Lexapro, I am unable to reach orgasm. Has anyone else taking this drug experienced this side effect? What have you done to help or would you reccommend switching to a different anti anxiety medication?

• Lexapro and Lasting Sexual Side Effects?

I've been off of Lexapro for about three month, however, I still have the sexual side effect of the drug (i.e., getting and maintaning an errection). Its not as bad as while I was on the drug, but the side effect is precisting. I've never had a problem before taking Lexapro, and only took it for about three month.
Is this common? And if so, how long does the side effect last after getting off the medication?

I have been taking 10 mg of Lexapro (Escitalopram) daily for less than two weeks. I consulted my doctor and we decided that I would stop taking the drug, mainly due to sexual side effects. How long do you think it will take for my libido to return to normal?

guys ..please let me know how to ween of the awful drug ...lexapro 5mg which iv been using from last 4 months ...i cannot take the side effects from such a minima dose ... from no sex drive to nausea and diahrrea al day ong ..i give up on this drug ...pease let me now how to ween off it ... thx

This is the worst drug I have ever been on. How many zombies out there get hooked to these drugs because it is too mentally challenging to stop taking them? I've tried several times to stop taking it but after three or four days it was easier to just pop another pill. I am going on two weeks without and my brain feels like mashed potatoes. I am experiencing jitteriness, brain "zaps", ringing in ears, very vivid dreams/nightmares, confusion, memory problems and just an overall brain haze. Can anyone tell me when I'll get back to "normal"?

She started out with 10ml and escalated to 20ml. What is the possbility that she will ever be able to get off of this drug. After reading the side effects of Lexapro, she has all of them and drinks alcolol with the mediction. This is what caused the break up of our marriage.
