• Changing from Effexor to Lexapro. Are these side effects normal?

I have been taking Effexor 300mg for the past year or so, and currently just changed to Lexapro 10mg. The reason for changing is only because I cant afford Effexor anymore (no more govt. subsidy on that, otherwise I was doing fine with it). I have taken Lexapro in the past, a while before I took Effexor. It worked quite well on me back then.
Anyway, this is like, my 2nd week on Lexapro. The first few days was awful and it felt as though I didnt take any meds at all (feelings of jittery, shaking inside...). Now, I dont feel much depression, but I feel tired ALL THE TIME. I can sleep the whole day and still feel tired. My eyes are always tired and I always feel sleepy, no matter how much I sleep, or if I just woke up.
Is this a side effect from withdrawing from Effexor, or starting on Lexapro? If so, is it normal?
I also feel dizzy sometimes, like my surroundings are spinning around although I am standing still and everything else is not moving. I'm not sure if this is from oversleeping or from the meds.

• Side effects of Lexapro?

Alright well I'm going on Lexapro without a prescription, and I'm only trying it for a week first. What are the side effects of it, especially if I want to withdraw from it? The main questions I want answered are.. Does it make me gain or lose weight? Does it cause panic attacks? How long does it take to start noticing changes? And will I be more calm?

• Has anyone had the side effects of not being able to feel deeply while being on lexapro?

I dont know if its from what has happened in my life but i just can not feel deeply bout things like i use to. I feel that i dont have that deep love for my family or anyone. I always feel like I'm withdrawn. I dont know if its from the lexapro or what.

• Is it safe to switch from lexapro to paxil?

The first anti depressant i ever took was paxil i took it for 6 months and weaned myself off b/c i thought i was better. I took it for panic attacks. Then i was put on paxil cr then they took that off the shelf so i started back on paxil and then with my 2nd child they told me the things that paxil could do to my baby, never told me this with my first but i thank the Lord their both OK. With my 2nd child they put me on Zoloft after I had him the Zoloft didn't seem to work all that good so they put me on lexapro. I am ALWAYS tired and I keep reading all the bad stuff about lexapro and all the other SSRI's so I want to wean myself off of them, and i want to switch back to paxil since I've weaned myself off of it before but I've never went from lexapro to paxil so i don't know if I'm going to have any withdraws from the lexapro while taking paxil and then weaning myself off of it.
Just a note to anyone else on SSRI's please read about them and you'll see how much worse they are for you than good.
I'm now taking fish oil. And have 5HTP to take when Im completely off the paxil/lexapro which i know you cannot take 5HTP while on an SSRI's but it does the same as SSRI's and it only takes a few min to work, and don't have all the harsh side effects like the SSRI's
I just want to be off SSRI's COMPLETELY

ok, so i have been on lexapro 20mg for well over a year... well this was prescribed by doctor #1.. well doctor #2 wants me off lexapro and on wellbutrin xl 150. the thing is i CAN NOT quit taking my lexapro, the withdrawl is simply too much for me to handle.
does anyone know if vertigo is a side effect of withdrawing from an anti-anxiety such as lexapro? i have looked all over the internet and can't find much info.

• Can SSRI's make you feel worse when first taking them?

About a week and a half ago, I experienced horrible panic attacks that left me with constant anxiety. The first doctor gave me Xanax (which helps to a degree) and Lexapro (gave me to high of a dosage and made me completely sick and freak out). I was told to stop taking the Lexapro but kept taking the Xanax. I went to the doctor yesterday and they gave me Paxil. Last night I took it and it made me like a zombie...emotionless and a little nausea. I drank lots of sleepytime tea and took Valerian Root along with it to sleep (I have been having problems sleeping lately) which, helped my mood but I feel weird (tense, kind of withdrawn, and extremely tired). I also had some weird dreams last night that I wonder have anything to do with the meds. I feel so down and tired today and I don't know if it's bc Im not taking the xanax, side effects of Paxil, or just from the anxiety I have been dealing with. I also have problems eating (no appetite). Any advice would be appreciated...esp from those
who may have experienced similar things on an SSRI or Paxil. I just want to feel better and I know it takes time to work but I can barely function right now and just want to feel at least a little better...
Regular Paxil I believe...
