i have started 5 mg of lexapro two weeks ago, i have days where i have massive headaches and stomache aches and general weakness and fatigue. mouth kinda dry also. my anxiety and depression arnt as bad but still there and i know i have to give the med about a month. anyone else experience these side effects when first taking the medication?

I just started Lexapro, and since I've been taking it I've been unable to cry. I get the lump in the throat and semi-watery eyes, but I am unable to just cry properly.

Unable to orgasm during intercourse, please help!!!?
I have been diagnosed with depression and take lexapro to counteract it. However, I am unable to orgasm during regular intercourse and sometimes cannot keep it up. However, I have no issues when I am masturbating and achieve erection and orgasm without any problem.
What the heck is going on? Is it my depression and anxiety problem or is it the medication? How do I manage without the meds because when I am off them I am depressed and anxious? The doctor gave me some Cialis for the ED problems but that dosent help with the orgasm. Is there any long term solution for this? Any anti depression medication without sexual side effects?

This is for all those people like myself who've searched the internet inquiring about the medication Lexapro. I'm documenting my first 2 weeks on the medication and sharing it with you, so that you will know what to expect. I am taking 10mg for anxiety and panic attacks once a day.
Day 1: Feel lethargic (blah-no emotion) for the first 2 hours. The 3rd hour dizzy then sleepy.
Day 2: Dizziness occured after the first hour then sleepy
Day 3: Dizziness occured after the first hour then sleepy
Day 4: Dizziness occured after the first hour then hyper/anxious, 4 hours later sleepy
Day 5: Dizziness occured after the first hour then hyper/anxious, then sleepy
Day 6: Anxious at first, sleepy within 5 hours
Day 7: Sleepy within 5 hours
End of week 1: Side effects very mild. Only lasts a few hours after it is taken. If I eat something first the side effect is milder. So far so good!
Day 8: It's been 4 hours since I took it and I am not sleepy! Stay tuned for updates on day 9-14......
Well It's day 16! The dizzy and sleepy stopped after 1 week! Now I just feel relaxed enough at bedtime to actually get to sleep, which has always been a problem for me. I sleep very good as well. The best part is I have noticed that some situations that are usually edgy arn't as much anymore. I feel it is definitly helping with anxiety and panic so far. Stay tuned....
22 days and still a happy camper. At this point I can definitly say it's a medication worth trying if you are considering one. I only had mild side effects the first week and overall it's helped me. Good luck to everyone trying it!
7/22 Answers to questions.... No weight gain. Actually I have had the opposite with not much of an appetite at all. I was told in some people it can actually be an appetite suppresant. In higher doses it can actually make you think you are hungry and thats where the weight gain comes in for some people. Stay under 20mg a day!! Some people get nauseated if they do not eat something before taking it. I always take it 1/2 hour after I eat and have no problems with my stomach.

I've been on Lexapro for about 6 mo.s for depression. I don't notice a huge difference, I think it may have helped some. I still have the same anxiety.
I started gaining weight, 10lbs so far, and don't want to keep taking it if I could do without it, as I take so much other medication. I hope to get off of much of it; try more natural things, and most are very expensive.
I've heard of people taking it for a period.
I hope I can find information here about how it feels to get off of it, or even if I reduce it to 5mg. I take 10mg now.
What type of side effects, how severe, for how long. How long will I be a menace? Kidding.
I have been pretty sensitive to getting on and off meds in the past, meaning I get side effects. I can tolerate it and 'get through it' if it's not too horrible.
I forgot to take the Lexapro for a day or two in the beginning. when I was traveling. Boy did I have crying spells, which I've never had, and felt bad. I didn't make the connection until later.

I need help with ways to help my boyfriend. He has been on lexapro for a 2 years. He has no sex drive. To a point of where I have to make an effort to even get a kiss in the evening. I have to be the one to make the move. I know it is not his fault that this is a side effect of this medication, but I have days when I feel alone, and no chemistry just because the lack of sex. What can I do to help things?
