• Lexapro and Social Anxiety Disorder / PMDD?

I know Lexapro isn't FDA approved to treat SAD (social anxiety disorder) or PMDD (premenstrual dysphoric disorder), but I've been recently prescribed this.
Any SSRI would help wouldn't it?
Has anyone tried Lexapro and has had their social phobia or PMDD symptoms relieved from it?
I tried Zoloft (which is FDA approved to treat SAD and PMDD), but 50mg didn't do much, and 100mg wouldnt let me sleep more than 2 hours a night for 2 weeks...
I've done some research and have come across Paxil also. How well does it work for one with SAD or PMDD? Personal experiences only please.

Hello my name is jesse and im a 16 year old with overwelming social anxiety. I had a few questions about a medication called Lexapro and even your experience would be very helpful. Fist off to start off i have been on sooo many medications that havent helped with my social anxiety whatsoever that it just makes me feel lkike its pointless to try this one. Ive been on in order paxil 20mg for a month and a half, Prozac 10mg for three days cause side effects overwelmed, Celexa 10mg for a month and a half, Effexor 112.5mg for a little over 2 months and lastly Zoloft 37.5mg for near 2 months. I recently started Cognitive behavioral therapy but its sooo hard to comprehend what the guy is telling me when my anxiety is so bad that i can interperate the advice given. I just got 5mg to start off with on this new med Lexapro and i was wondering if you could give me a bit more insite on it and even experiences of it for social anxiety disorder. Alsoif this medication would help with the side effects i experience when im anxious as in Tunnel vission, lack of concentration onto what people are saying, performance/perfectionism while in social sitions and while doing objectives. Sorry this is so long and thank you very much for your thoughts.

• Best Medications for Social Anxiety, Panic Disorder and Bi-polar Depression.?

I have been diagnosed with Social Anxiety Disorder, Panic Disorder and Bi-Polar Depression. I have tried many, many medicines over the years and still can't seem to find one (or a combination of one) that helps me.
I CANNOT take any sort of benzos because I have a very addictive personality and have been in rehab twice for abusing Xanax, Klonopin, Valium along with various prescription painkillers. So no doctor will prescibe them to me and even if they would I don't want to be on them again because I know I would just get hooked.
Anyways I have tried a few sorts of SSRI's over the years. Paxil, Zoloft, Prozac and they all seem to have a negative effect on me. The only one that really helped was Paxil but I am typically just a disorganized person by nature and every SSRI I have been on has made me very very lazy and I lack so much motivation when I am on them. Well with Paxil and Prozac I gained alot of weight so I switched over to Zoloft which is probably the worst one I have taken because it doesn't really help my anxiety, it just makes me lazy and I actually think I am feeling more depressed on this Med.
I was also on Wellbutrin for a little bit last year and it really helped with my depression but made my anxiety worse (I can't win! lol) I went to the doctors yesterday and asked her if I could go on Wellbutrin along with Paxil and she told me no that they couldn't be mixed (even though I looked it up and have known quite a few people that have had this combo) She is really starting to get on my nerves because I have told her over and over that I don't respond well to just SSRIs but she just keeps putting me on them. She has been pushing Lexapro since day one and so I finally decided to give it a try so I am gonna be starting that in a week.
I know every person reacts differently to medicines but I just would like to know if anyone has tried a combo of pills for similar disorders that actually worked? Also has Lexapro worked for anyone who has tried it?

Hello,
I have Social Anxiety Disorder...and dealing with it has been total hell for me. I just want some relief or to know that I'm not alone. I'm very embarassed about it and don't want to let anyone at work or anyone I know, know that I have this.
It's very hard for me to deal with though, and I feel like it has taken over my life :(
Does anyone have any REAL experience with this? If you're going to be rude PLEASE don't say anything. I just want to feel like I am not alone in this. Anyone have any advice or suggestions??? Please let me know!!!
I am currently taking 10 mg of Lexapro, I have been on it for about a month. It doesn't seem to really be helping. I'm thinking about taking 2, making it 20 mg...maybe that will work better? I just want SOMETHING to make it better!!! I want my old life back. I'm a hairstylist so I deal with people alll day long. Anyways, thanks to anyone who can help..I'd really appreciate it.

This disorder is not well known but a very serious one if you have it. I was diagnosed with it 2 years ago and was prescribed lexapro 10mg from mild anxiety and depression but I feel that it doesn't work good enough. I get very on edge in public and get very nervous. I have a habit of using my middle fingers to scratch the side of my thumbs when I am nervous and both of my thumbs look like raw ground beef right now. I need something that wil really help calm my nerves so I function in public and do normal stuff kids are supposed to do. I am a 16 year old male. Have any suggestions?

• Antidepressants for social anxiety?

Im gonna try to make this as short as possible haha. I'm seventeen, about a year ago i was put on 10mg lexapro for generalized anxiety disorder and it pretty much made it go away. But for about the past half year ive become pretty depressed, and its because im not able to be as social as i used to be for some reason:(. I feel like i have social anxiety. So my doc put put me on 20mg lexapro, social anxiety didnt go away. So now he put me on 150mg Wellbutrin and im coming off lexapro. I dont see that the Wellbutrin is working that well, other than the fact that it gives me a little more energy. PLEASE someone tell me what antidepressant is good for sad? Thank you so much,
