• Crazy sex drive after stopping antidepressants?

I recently stopped lexapro, and my sex drive is sky high, masturbating on average 6-8 times a day for last week only taking about 3 minutes to ejaculate, I've also become more sexually aggressive towards my girlfriend, while on the meds I was only coming two or three times a week? Is this normal after stopping these pills?

I quit taking lexapro 15mg cold turkey a fortnight ago which I was on for 6 months, and although it helped a little bit, I stopped due to side effects, I actually feel a lot better then when I was on it and before it for that matter. Is this normal?

Hi, Just wondering if anyone has experienced weight gain after stopping antidepressants.
I stopped prozac/lexapro about months ago and gaining about 2 kilos a month.
Any idea why this is happening?

I've been on Lexapro for about 6 mo.s for depression. I don't notice a huge difference, I think it may have helped some. I still have the same anxiety.
I started gaining weight, 10lbs so far, and don't want to keep taking it if I could do without it, as I take so much other medication. I hope to get off of much of it; try more natural things, and most are very expensive.
I've heard of people taking it for a period.
I hope I can find information here about how it feels to get off of it, or even if I reduce it to 5mg. I take 10mg now.
What type of side effects, how severe, for how long. How long will I be a menace? Kidding.
I have been pretty sensitive to getting on and off meds in the past, meaning I get side effects. I can tolerate it and 'get through it' if it's not too horrible.
I forgot to take the Lexapro for a day or two in the beginning. when I was traveling. Boy did I have crying spells, which I've never had, and felt bad. I didn't make the connection until later.

How do they work for you? what are your side effects? Im taking lexapro, just started on 10mg. I used to take it before but stopped it bc I have a fear of taking meds.

I took Lexapro for about 6 months and gained around 20-30 lbs. Doctor's say that it doesn't make you gain weight, but I've read countless forums where people say they have gained weight from it. I stopped taking Lexapro a few weeks ago. I need an antidepressant that doesn't make me gain weight, or I'm right back to where I started with being depressed. Lol
I would appreciate any help.

• What happens when the antidepressants stop working??

I've been taking Lexapro for several months and Ativan for a couple of years. I really don't feel any of the "symptoms" going away. I can't sleep very well with the Ativan and if Lexapro is doing much for me, then what about switching to alternative medicines? I've talked with my doc about this before-just curious to see what your opinions are, etc-

• Withdrawals from antidepressant Lexapro?

Diagnosed with depression about a month or so ago.
Prescribed Lexapro and melatonin to help me sleep. Melatonin did not work, tried ambien, and am now currently taking tylenol pm.
In the past week, I started getting vivid, suicidal thoughts and tendencies and urges.
My doctor told me to stop taking Lexapro and she was going to start me off on something new.
This is my 2nd day not taking any antidepressants and I have a huge headache, I get dizzy, I feel weak, nauseous, and Im exhausted.
Could I be having withdrawals?
Help, I really hate feeling this way. Ibuprofen does not work.

• Should I try stopping my antidepressants?

I have been on AD's for a about 5 years now. I think they were helping for a while, but feel like they are not since around February of this year. I was taking Celexa 40-60mg for about 4.5 years, then we tried changing up to Lexapro/Welbutrin then Lexapro/Abilify for a few months (I felt I should be better, that is why we tried switching). I finally had a bad crash in January (I think it was from a low dosage of Lexapro 10mg). Now I am on 20mg-30mg of Lexapro and doing "blah". I am not happy, I just exist. Am I just more depressed? Or could the medication be numbing me? How can I tell which it is?

If I do try discontinuing, I will do it very slowly with my P doc.

• What happens if you abruptly stop taking Lexapro?

My boyfriend was diagnosed with anxiety and depression a long time ago. He's been through the gamut of antidepressants, like Prozac, Remeron and such. His current doctor put him on Lexapro about six months ago and it has seemed to level him out. Recently, he flipped out, broke up with me, kicked me out (then said I could live with him, but not be together), and burned me with his family, then admitted he stopped taking his antidepressants three days ago abruptly. Did this contribute to his irrationality? I'm curious to know, because he decided to start taking them again today and wondering if he was raging due to that.
What are the side effects associated with suddenly stopping?
He does not typically act so out of control, so this is why it through me for a loop. It literally was pretty much unprovoked.
