•Voting Question: I am weaning off of Lexapro...side effects?

I have been taking 10 mg of Lexapro since September 2009. I have now decided to wean off of it and my doctor is having me take 5 mg for a week, 5 mg every other day for a week and then stop. I have been reading the side effects of stopping Lexapro and it's kind of freaking me out. Dizziness, brain "zapping" and upset stomach? Should I expect these or any symptoms with my weaning plan?

All of you doctors or nurses out there I have a question about getting off Lexapro. I have been taking Lexapro for about 9 months, originally I was prescribed 20mg and was increased to 40mg about 4 months ago . In the beginning I was using marijuana and oxycodone with the Lexapro and experienced no side effects. Now I have been off of marijuana for 3 months and oxys for about a month and went through about a week of withdrawal symptoms from getting off oxys. Recently I have been having nausea, diahrea, tremors, and increased sweating. My psychiatrist said to stop taking the Lexapro immediatly, while my regular physician said to ween myself off. Any input from educated people about this would help me alot. I am debating what to do.....Thanks :)
No drugs are being used except prescription xanax. Thanks

I haven't been on lexapro too long, 6 months perhaps at a 10mg dose for PND I recently have stopped & have noticed that I am having the withdrawal symptom of brain zaps/ slight dizzy spells. All I wonder is how long will it last? :) its only been the last two days & I stopped completely probably 5 days ago. Thank you :)

I am taking Lexapro. But i am not that happy with lack of sex drive and anorgasmia side effect. Has someone been through the same? How can this side effect be overcome withouth stopping taking lexapro?

i take 20mg of lexapro every morning and i usually get no side effects, recently i have not taken lexapro in about 2 weeks because i had no refills, the first time i went off lexapro and decided to go back i had really bad headaches, dizziness nausea, etc, and i dont want to experience these symptoms again, is there anything i can do so when i start lexapro again i dont get any side effects??

Anyone else taking or know someone who has taken Lexapro and stopped? I'm easing myself off of them with doctor's help because of pregnancy and I hate hate hate these side effects. I get what feels like electric shocks through my body and bright flashes when I blink, especially w/ sudden movements. This feels horrible; my doctor knows but there's really thing I can do. I want to just stop, period.. Does anyone have any experience or knowledge as to how long these side effects will last?

I'm a 27 year old male and I've been on 10MG of Lexapro for anxiety and it seems to be causing more problems than actually helping. First and foremost, I am sleepy almost all of the time and I feel completely zoned out all the time since I've been on it for 2 months.
Since I've been on the drug, I've had sexual issues. I used to masturbate several times a week, but now I barely masturbate at all due to lack of interest. Secondly, it takes forever for me to have an orgasm. This is very frustrating... as with almost all guys... masturbation and sex have been one of my primary methods of getting rid of stress. Not being able to achieve orgasm in either instances is depressing and causing more stress.
Do these side effects of Lexapro ever go away?

I have been on Lexapro 10mg for about 2 years now and have gained about 40lbs!!! I tried weaning myself off awhile back but I felt horrible! Lightheaded, dizzy, etc.....any suggestions???
