I saw an informative article here (I love Yahoo! Answers!)
http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20060901152058AA6cdvG
And I have been Rx'd Paxil 20 mg. but I heard Lexapro is good too.
Is it safe to switch from taking Paxil 20 mg. for 14 days then switching to Lexapro?

• Switching from Paxil to Lexapro-Think I still got withdrawals?
|
I was on Paxil 10mg's for a month and had some side effects so the doctor switched me to Lexapro 20mg's. He said they were the same type of drug so switching wouldn't cause problems. Well a few day after I switched I started getting chills and felt really crappy. I've since cut my lexapro down to 10mg's(20 seemed too strong) and feeling better. Anybody else had this happen? I think the doc was full of !@#$

• Is it safe to switch from lexapro to paxil?
|
The first anti depressant i ever took was paxil i took it for 6 months and weaned myself off b/c i thought i was better. I took it for panic attacks. Then i was put on paxil cr then they took that off the shelf so i started back on paxil and then with my 2nd child they told me the things that paxil could do to my baby, never told me this with my first but i thank the Lord their both OK. With my 2nd child they put me on Zoloft after I had him the Zoloft didn't seem to work all that good so they put me on lexapro. I am ALWAYS tired and I keep reading all the bad stuff about lexapro and all the other SSRI's so I want to wean myself off of them, and i want to switch back to paxil since I've weaned myself off of it before but I've never went from lexapro to paxil so i don't know if I'm going to have any withdraws from the lexapro while taking paxil and then weaning myself off of it.
Just a note to anyone else on SSRI's please read about them and you'll see how much worse they are for you than good.
I'm now taking fish oil. And have 5HTP to take when Im completely off the paxil/lexapro which i know you cannot take 5HTP while on an SSRI's but it does the same as SSRI's and it only takes a few min to work, and don't have all the harsh side effects like the SSRI's
I just want to be off SSRI's COMPLETELY

• Has anybody switched from Paxil to Lexapro?
|
I've been taking Paxil for 13 years and it's therapeudic, but I've gained tons of weight. I tried switching to Wellbutrin once but I was very anxious because I had that feeling "Am I feeling ok? Am I different? Is this working?" I was just reading about Lexapro and how it sometimes helps with compulsive eating. It's an SSRI, like Paxil and I feel pretty sure it would be equally as therapeudic, but I'm concerned about the transitional period.
Have you been on Paxil and switched to Lexapro and at what rate did you do it?

• Is it safe or the same to switch from Paxil to Lexapro?
|
I have been on Paxil for about 4 months and lately have been say missing a day or two and then taking a pill just to not feel so sick, I of course get the bad headaches, the brain zaps, and the mood swings when I dont, I have been taking it lightly because Im running low on my supply, and dont have insurance , as you know they are pretty pricy.
However I do have a good amount of lexapro that I used to take before stopping it and then having to jump back on Paxil cause I wanted to try something new, I take this for Anxiety...So was wondering what would happen if I just continued with lexapro, I am taking Paxil 10mg and my Lexapro is the same dose. Would it be ok? I know most of you will say consult your doctor, but I cant cause of money issues and no insurance, what I am asking for on here is from experience from anyone in my case.
Thanks to anyone and like I said please dont judge me this is cause of lack of insurance and stuff that I cant ask a doctor or continue with same meds.
I do want to quit completely, but should of done it earlier, the next 4 months for me will be very stressful as I am a Tax man and will need my patience at all times with this stressful season, which is why I worry about having to withdraw completely when my busiest work season is just starting, after say May when work dies down, I do plan to get off it slowly and hope to be med free by the summer...Once again thanks to all!

• Who has switched from Paxil cr to lexapro? any luck?

• Lexapro experience?
|
Hi, everyone! I'm in the process of switching from Paxil to Lexapro and was wondering if anyone has feedback on Lexapro. I'll listen to it all...the good/bad/ugly! I've been diagnosed with panic disorder for 9 years. Right now, I'm on 30mg of Paxil and 2.5mg of Lexapro and am slowly making this switch with my doctor. Any comments would be appreciated!
Paxil definitely helped me get back on track. When I was on 40mg, I would go YEARS without a panic attack. The reason I'm swtiching is because Paxil was elevated to a Category D drug (shown to harm fetuses) and I am thinking about trying for a baby soon. I don't have the option to get off meds entirely, so I'm trying to make the smartest choice.
I guess I should also tell you I'm a 28 year old female! Did any of you gain weight on Lexapro? I'm looking to shed my "Paxil weight"!!!
