• Lexapro weight gain /// going off of lexapro and getting metabolism back?

I was working out and dieting like crazy since Feb and finally realized its my lexapro causing me to not lose anything, so im deciding to go off of it, im currently on 10 mg and was wondering if anyone else had similar side effects? doctors say it dosent cause weight gain but i gained about 5 pounds and thats with burning 2000 cals a week and eating 1500 a day. was it hard going off of it? how long did it take to get your metabolism back?

I am in my mid-40's and with hormone issues and on anti-anxiety med and spoke to my MD and she say's there is no generic and that it is my hormones not the med's putting weight on me. So, now what? I need the med and need to lose 30 lbs.

I was on effexor 225 mg for about 2 years and i kept gaining weight, i am now on lexapro and am still gaining weight. i am wondering if my weight gain is from these meds or poss something else.

for this kind of weight gain. SSRIs are the only thing that work for me but I can't deal with the weight gain.

I really need to gain weight. I have been on Prozac in the past for panic attacks, I felt great but the weight dropped down 10 lbs in the first month. Now the doctor wants me to try Lexapro, for my panic attacks. I would like to try it but I am afraid I will lose weight again. Right now I am at 96 lbs. I need to put on a good 20 lbs. Sure would like some feed back on this. I really need some help with the weight problem. I eat but I guess I burn it off with the stress and worries. All members of my family are on the thin side, but there was a time when I was up to 135... I miss those days. The only thing I feel depressed about is my weight. Panic attacks run in my family and I have been a victim of dom violence, since the dom violence my panic attacks come and go. I have received a lot of help with this issue but my weight is still to low. I have even tried remeron, it helped a bit.
If I start the lexapro, how long will it take until I know if it will help my weight problem?

Has anyone else gained weight with Lexapro? I'm trying to decide if it's the Lexapro or my birth control because i started both around the same time. My weight gain didn't start til 2 months after i started the lexapro, which is when i changed my birth control.

My doctor just prescribed me to the anti-depressant Lexapro for my extreme depression, PMDD and anxiety. However, I am also dealing with an eating disorder coupled with an adderall addiction. My question is-will Lexapro cause me to gain weight (which will only lead to a "freak out" fast bc I am SO worried about gaining even 2-3 lbs) and if so has anyone else had any luck with any other types of anti-depresants that do not?
