• Lexapro: When is the best time to take it?
|
I was prescribed lexapro today, and I took half of a 10mg dose at 4:00 pm. My doctor told me to cut the tablet and take half a day until I move to one full tablet. He also didn't tell me a specific time, so what is the best time to take it? Should I stay at 4:00 or in the morning or night?

• When is it best to take Lexapro?

I recently started taking Lexapro for my depression/anxiety. It makes me feel sort of sleepy. As time progresses and it gets in my system, will I feel less tired from taking it? And what time of day is it best to take it?

• What time to take Pristiq?
|
I'm in the process of switching from Lexapro 20mg to Pristiq 50mg, starting Pristiq tomorrow. What is the best time to take it? Morning or night? I'm used to taking Lexapro at night, will Pristiq keep me awake? When can I expect to notice the changes? Lexapro has worked fine for the last 2 years, but it has killed my sex drive. For my husband's sake I'm switching to Pristiq. Hopefully it works! =)

•Voting Question: What is the best time of day to take anti-depressants?
|
I have moderate depression, and I've had it for about a year now. My doctor prescribed me 10mg lexapro. I read the label and it said that it could cause drowsiness, so I took it right before I went to bed bc I have a 5 mth old baby, and I didn't want to be tired during the day while I took care of her. Well, I have been having mild insomnia every night, but last night I could not sleep at all! It took me like 3 hrs to fall asleep, and then I woke up like 10 times! I barely slept at all and I am not really tired. Could it be the lexapro? Should I start taking it in the morning instead?

• Best Anti-Anxiety Drug To Take Only As Needed?
|
I've suffered off and on in my life with anxiety at times. If it really gets bad and stays for a while it will spin me down into a deep depression. Most of the time I'm fine but I recently picked up a new job and had to quit due to my anxiety that was RAGING in the morning. I would wake up in the middle of the night with racing thoughts. In the morning it would be so bad that I felt I would crawl out of my skin. As the day went on I would do better, but I would still have moments of shaking hands or zoning out (not hearing what they are telling me to do or reaching for the wrong tool when I knew I needed another). It was like things would not compute at times in my head. I may know what to do but my body would be on auto pilot and I'd just reach for the wrong tool or do something else that I *KNEW* wasn't correct but was so zoned out from nerves that I was blanking (not blacking) out on things.
I need to get another job soon of course but I need something to calm me down in the middle of the night, mornings, or when my nerves act up. Something maybe that will not only calm my nerves down but stop the racing negative or confusing thoughts that would come and go with the nerves. I don't want to be on something I have to take every day and takes time to build up. I need something that will calm me down right away and slow the racing or negative thoughts down when that happens.
Been on Lexapro in the past but that takes weeks to work and you have to take it every day. Didn't seem to help me either. I've used Visteral (sp?) and that's OK, but seems to not help with the thoughts while it does kill my nerves a bit. I've taken volumes and to be honest I never felt so "normal". I was so calm in mind and body that I thought "This is the way normal people are supposed to feel." Of course if you take those everyday they are addictive but I don't plan or need to do that to get addicted. Just when I'm wigging out a bit with nerves. Of course doctors don't like to prescribe that stuff anymore so that's probably out.
If there isn't an "as needed" drug I can take for my nerves and my "thoughts" to calm my mind then can you recommend one that you must take everyday? I need help here or I won't be able to hold a job and the only thing left will be disability. I've been in those cognetive therapy classes and they help some but this runs in my family and is genetic. I'm fighting it tooth and nail because I want to work and have a life. Please help!
