• How long do the withdrawal effects of Lexapro last once I stop taking it?
|
I stopped it a week and a half ago and I am still feeling the jitteriness and tingling.

• How long will it take the withdrawal side effects of Lexapro to subside?
|
This is the worst drug I have ever been on. How many zombies out there get hooked to these drugs because it is too mentally challenging to stop taking them? I've tried several times to stop taking it but after three or four days it was easier to just pop another pill. I am going on two weeks without and my brain feels like mashed potatoes. I am experiencing jitteriness, brain "zaps", ringing in ears, very vivid dreams/nightmares, confusion, memory problems and just an overall brain haze. Can anyone tell me when I'll get back to "normal"?

• Weird Lexapro side effects/withdrawal symptoms?
|
So about 2 months ago I was put on Lexapro for my anxiety. A couple weeks into it my anxiety seemed to have decreased significantly, but I felt very depressed and had extreme mood swings. The doctor then decided to up my dosage and that got worse. It caused me to have anxiety/irrational thoughts over accidentally hurting someone or saying something really mean to someone. I thankfully never acted on these thoughts and told the doctor I wanted off the medicine immediately. Its been a little over 2 weeks now and although the thoughts aren't as severe they are still there. The depression and anxiety are gone though but it just worries me how long these thoughts are going to stick around, I thought they would be gone once I stopped taking the Lexapro. I never had these kind of thoughts before the medication and I know that the thoughts are from the medicine and not my true morals and personality. Anyone ideas?

• Tapering down Lexapro - withdrawal HELP?
|
My Pdoc feels I need to change from my 20mg Lexapro to effexor. So I am tapering Lex: from 20mg to 10mg; this was supposed to be done while I start on 37.5 mg Effexor. I had a strange reaction - was completely mind-frozen after my first Effexor dose, so the doc asked me to not take any effexor for now and taper down lex. Doc says I sould not notice any withdrawal effects.
Past 4 days I have been taking 10mg Lex. I have noticed
* my fatigue has lessened.
* I am feeling very indifferent. Not even feeling irritable or angry like when I was on lex. This is scaring me - makes me wonder if I have become MORE depressed or its just some side -effect.
* Feeling somewhat blue, not sad... just a feeling of deep loss.
* No anxiety (used to be rather wired on Lex 20mg)
* Feeling out of it, a bit like I am in a dream ... disconnected from the world. (felt dreamy/unconnected even before when I was on 20mg, but now its a different dream-like feeling! - distressing nevertheless)
* Unable to know how I am feeling
* Not much change in sleep
* not reacting to anything - a feeling of resignation
* Appetite is better
* unexplained feeling of dread
My understanding is that any increase or decrease in dose takes a while to affect the peak concentration levels of the med to reach a stable level for the renewed effects to be felt.
What should I expect..... am I undergroing withdrawal... or is the worse yet tome come???

•Voting Question: How long will side effects last from lexapro withdrawal?
|
I was taking Wellbutrin XL 150mg and Lexapro 20mg together daily for a few years. I cant afford it with no insurance now and wanted to get off drugs anyway so I tapered of Lexapro... I was down about 2.5 mg a day until about a week ago. I stopped taking Wellbutrin cold turkey about a week ago but starting feeling lifeless and weak so I had to start taking it again yesterday. I feel lots of anxiety today and feel sick. I have been getting "brain zaps", flu-like symptoms, as well as anxiety from Lexapro withdrawal. Can anyone tell me how long this will last?

• Which is harder to quit? Abilify or lexapro?
|
Hi everyone,
I'm very curious and I know this is different for everyone, but I want to know which medicine is harder to quit: abilify or lexapro, on average?
I used to take abilify and lexapro. I stopped taking lexapro in the beginning of May this year and the withdrawal effects were extreme. That was my third attempt of quitting and I am happy to say that I don't have withdrawal effects from lexapro anymore. I used to get these really uncomfortable brain shocks or zaps and other effects but the brain shocks bothered me the most. After a month of not taking lexapro I was still experiencing withdrawal effects, but I knew that if I turn back everything that I've done to quit would be such a waste of time. That's why I decided to quit after the finals exam from my spring semester so that I would have nothing to worry about or do during the sufferings.
Anyway, I stopped taking abilify on 7/16/2011 (last Saturday). I started taking abilify in 6th grade and now I'm in college. So long time, huh? The amount that I was taking right before quitting was 1.25mg. I went from 10mg to 1.25mg over time and thought that it was time to quit.
I tried researching online to find out whether or not lexapro is commonly harder to quit than abilify. I asked my doc about this and he said that he wasn't sure so that didn't help much. I'm hoping that I would get really good answers from you guys. Stories of personal experience or from someone you know would be greatly appreciated. Please be nice. I'm looking for serious answers. I will pick best answer and give rating. Sorry that you had to read all this, but I just wanted to give you guys a bit of info of my experience.
Thanks for your time and help!
Sincerely,
Lynn

• Am I suffering from withdrawal effects of Zoloft and Clonazepam?
|
I was diagnosed with OCD 6 months ago and was prescribed on at least 3 SSRIs (Prozac, Lexapro, Zoloft) and 1 TCA (Anafranil) all of which I developed severe side effects (anxiety,panic attacks,agitation,anger) but I was on Zoloft the longest (about 3 months) on 50mg/day due to the fact I used to take it few years back with no side effects (can't explain why I developed intolerance towards it now) and my Dr was hopeful that the 6 - 8 weeks rule for SSRI to kick in will happen but the side effects overshadows its benefit. Having said that, I quit the med but remain taking Clonazepam which I have been taken all along with the Zoloft (2mg/day but lowered to 1mg/day after I quit Zoloft) and now its been almost a month since I quit the med but I still feel anxious, panicky and I'm constantly experiencing "dry throat" which causes difficulty in swallowing food. I read from the net that both SSRI and Benzodiazepine can cause withdrawal effect depending on the dosage and period taken. Last 3 days I tried to lower my Clonazepam to 0.5mg/day since I wanted to be off that as well to be absolutely sure that neither one of the meds is causing these symptoms but each time I tried, my condition got worse so I had to go back to at least 1mg/day to feel better again. Just for the record, I was feeling much better before I started on the meds (the OCD doesn't cause this much of nonsense to begin with) and now I feel like a shipwreck and really trying to get off the meds and eliminate the side effects (the OCD is still unresolved but I'll deal with that in some other way). Am i suffering from some sort of withdrawal effect from these meds? Any ideas or answers are most welcome. Thanks
