i have been on lexapro 5 mg (for my social anxiety) since the last 6 months.. now i am planning to slowly stop the drug.. how long will my withdrawal symptoms last and what will the symptoms be.. ?

I took Lexapro for 3 years and stopped it about 3 weeks ago. I tapered off, but not slowly enough. I am experiencing severe withdrawal symptoms, like dizzyness, general malaise, trouble sleeping, and irritability. But I am also experiencing night terrors (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Night_terror ) and am not able to sleep because of them!
I have experienced night terrors before, usually when I'm over-tired and immediately go into REM sleep. But now I'm wondering if this is part of the Lexapro withdrawal, since Lexapro has a "vivid dreams" side effect.
What's happening to me is that I drift to sleep, have a night terror which always ends with my trying to scream "help me!" to wake myself up, then I wake up. I am usually afraid to go back to sleep, but I try anyway. Within an hour, I have another night terror, and this continues all night. So I am not getting half the sleep I normally get.
Any advice on dealing with these night terrors would be appreciated.
The more I research, I think instead I might be experiencing sleep paralysis (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sleep_paralysis ) instead of night terrors.
Either way, they are horrible!

I just (3 days) stopped taking Lexapro and I am having severe withdrawal syndrome-nausea, dizzy, anxious, some nights are HORRIBLE, can't sleep, ABSOLUTELY bad mood. I feel like I am dying slowly.
Could you die from Lexapro withdrawal? If not, how long will it last?

I am weaning on Lexapro and I have weaned off Paxil before, so I know what to expect and how to go slowly. But with Lexapro I am craving sweets so much, I just want to eat fruit and candy all day. Has anyone else experienced this or heard of it? Also, can it cause insomnia? I am going really slowly, tapering by just 2.5 mg every few weeks. Any other tips?

I have been really dizzy, nauseous, and I have a headache. I have been off lexapro for two weeks now. I weaned myself off, but perhaps I did it too fast. Also, a few days ago I had tonsillitis, but I believe I am over it now. What do you guys think? Any advice would be beneficial. Thank You!

Im on 20mg.Every time I tell my psyche I want off lexapro they just keep upping the dose so Im going to try ween myself off slowly.Can anything bad happen if I try-heart attack or something?Id be grateful for any advice.

took lexapro for 6months after having a baby. had a difficult birth required a c-section. also lost my dad 2months before baby was born experienced some anxiety and depression. couldnot understand the feelings i experienced other than losing my dad i wasn't depressed may have been postpartum related. feeling much better now thanks to the good lord. however having severe dizziness as a result of stopping lexapro?

Can Lexapro withdrawal cause itching specifically in the extremities, unaccompanied by a rash or any visible skin symptoms?
Edit: I don't mean a crawling sensation like bugs. I mean just regular itching, like people get with allergic hives or poison ivy, only without any visible rash or redness.
