It takes around four weeks for it to start fulling working,
It took 2 weeks for a few minor side effect to kick in on me. They make 5 mg. tabs, or were you taking half a 10.
It could take up to 4 weeks, maybe even longer than that. Give it a chance, keep taking the 10mg. My boyfriend has been taking it for a while and loves it, but it took a while to kick in for him.
Sorry to break this to you, but it can take 90 days for that to take full effect. Just give it time, it will get better.
5mg is not a very high dosage which may be the cause of no relief. However typically it'll take approx 4-6 weeks before you'll know if it's truly the right medicine for you so try and be patient (although i know it's tough!). If this the first time trying medication and you've successfully nailed it on the head than congrats to you and your doctor! I know many times it's trial and error (through real life experience and research) and it takes a variety of options before you find the right medication that you react well to. Hang in there and don't EVER give up :)
Unfortunately there are a handful of us who have been given the challenge of anxiety. I've recently learned that totally getting rid of anxiety is impossible. It's the process of learning how to cope with it is what'll lead you down a successful path in life.
Feel free to email me if you have any questions. I have been down a long road of coping with GAD and panic attacks and understand the daily minute to minute frustrations. I'd love to help in anyway possible
Good luck.
I'm on it too. In my case took a little more than 2 weeks to work. It helped me a lot with my panic attacks and other PTSD and schizo disorders. Be patient it will work.
It's trial and error for mental health meds - you need to give it more time, but it may not ever work for you and you will need to try another med.
my home mental health worker has told me that counseling is a better treatment for anxiety than medication, from what she has seen thru the years. (I have severe bipolar is why have a home worker). So even tho you are trying the meds, get counseling too, and work it from that angle too. There are specific techniques to learn, like meditation (I like guided imagery). make sure you are laying off caffeine. Hot baths help me a lot. A lot of people like Lucinda Basset's stuff - maybe you can get the DVD's from the library.
